LXCL:Needs Must Cats rescues and provides urgent veterinary care for abandoned, stray, and feral cats in Baltimore. We focus on Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) efforts to improve the lives of community cats and prevent suffering on the streets.

Cats and kittens rescued from the streets often require hundreds of dollars of veterinary care beyond spay/neuter and vaccines. We need your help to cover the cost of urgent vet visits, diagnostics, and medications so that abandoned, stray, and feral/community cats get treatment instead of suffering unseen on the streets. 🐾 Needs Must Cats is a small but impactful rescue operation that subsists entirely on a shoestring budget (made possible primarily by Lizzie&#39;s credit cards). During the first few months of 2026 alone, we have incurred over $7,000 in expenses, the majority of which have not been covered by donations.&nbsp; I need your support to keep helping these cats. I don&#39;t want to have to make tough decisions such as withdrawing from rescue or surrendering animals to overcrowded shelters due to an inability to afford care. Some notable cases this year have included: Half-Pint, whose caretaker noticed he was not doing well. Due to labored breathing, I took him to the emergency vet where he had fluid drained from his chest cavity secondary to FIP. $700 later we had to put him to sleep due to a collapsed lung. Moomin, who was pulled from a local shelter after being slated for euthanasia due to age-typical medical concerns. We are still trying to get to the bottom of his condition, which has necessitated multiple vet visits, medications, bloodwork, and other diagnostics. So far, Moomin&#39;s care has cost over $400.&nbsp; A kitten named Pumpkin was rescued from a local shelter late last year due to his emaciated condition and grouchy attitude. Pumpkin got adopted but had chronic diarrhea which necessitated multiple vet visits, fecals, and trials of different medications over months. We eventually found a lesser known antibiotic which cured the diarrhea, but the endeavor cost over $300. We&#39;ve also been working hard doing TNR for Baltimore City cats. While the spay/neuter and vaccine package is free at BARCS, I&#39;m paying $10 each cat for microchips. It doesn&#39;t sound like a lot, but when you&#39;re doing 30 - 40 cats a month it adds up quickly. Microchips are important because they can save a cat&#39;s life if they end up in the wrong place, but I cannot afford to keep shelling out hundreds each month for it. At only a little over a quarter through the year, our expenses are at about 60% of what they were for the entirety of 2025. Currently we are using several borrowed traps which has been a big help but won&#39;t be available for long. Tru-Catch traps are the favored brand of most TNR practitioners.
