The Northern Colorado Breastfeeding Coalition promotes and supports breastfeeding through education, advocacy, and community engagement, ensuring that families have access to the resources and support they need for successful breastfeeding journeys.

Black Breastfeeding Week honors the strength, wisdom, and experiences of Black families in our community . This gathering offers space to share stories, ask questions, and connect with local resources that support your breastfeeding journey. This event will be recorded and available for viewing for 60 days. Co-hosted with Colorado Breastfeeding Coalition. Alliss Hardy, BS, CLC, CPD/BC is the Director of Programs at Families Forward Resource Center in Aurora, Colorado, where she leads innovative maternal and child health programs focused on improving birth outcomes and advancing health equity for Black families. A Board Certified Full Spectrum Professional Doula, Certified Lactation Counselor, Certified Black Lactation Educator, and Parent Educator, Alliss has dedicated nearly a decade to supporting families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and early parenting. Her work centers on community-based education, breastfeeding support, workforce development, and addressing systemic disparities in maternal health. Through advocacy, leadership, and storytelling, she is passionate about empowering families to make informed decisions and helping communities create environments where Black mothers, babies, and families can thrive.&nbsp; Objectives:<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Identify specific access barriers and disparities that Black families experience during their breastfeeding journey.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Share results from Family First&rsquo;s 2025 Community Health Needs Assessment.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Educate on the work of Families Forward, including major benchmarks of the program related to lactation, impact of the organization, how participants across the state of Colorado can access these resources, etc.</li></ul>By registering, you help the Northern Colorado Breastfeeding Coalition plan a welcoming event with the tools, information, and community care you deserve.&nbsp; *CEUs have been applied for and we will update attendees as we are awarded. &nbsp;The awarded CEUs will be sent out after the recording closes (60 days after event) and will be post-dated with that date.

Whether you&#39;re navigating a fussy feeder in session or supporting a family through the shift into complementary feeding, this day is built around the real challenges you see every week. Susan holds a Master of Science in Nursing, having worked inpublic health before focusing on maternal-child health. Her clinical roles have includedlabor and delivery nurse, childbirth educator, clinical research nurse, and clinical facultyat Georgetown University. Susan founded Arlington Lactation &amp; Feeding Therapy, aprivate practice near Washington, DC in 2013. Through her practice, Susan providesadvanced clinical lactation care with a focus on tethered oral tissues, bottle refusal, andcomplex feeding situations. Susan mentors lactation professionals, consults on productdevelopment, and presents nationally on strategies ranging from infant sucking skills toclinical bottle feeding skills. Herresearch focuses on infant nutrition and feeding, with particular emphasis oncomplementary feeding and how early dietary exposures influence growth and bodycomposition. Kinzie brings both research and clinical experience to her work with infantsand families. As a Certified Lactation Counselor, she has supported families with arange of infant feeding and lactation concerns, including milk supply, returning to workwhile breastfeeding, baby-led weaning, and allergen introduction. She has alsocontributed to NIH-funded clinical trials focused on infant feeding and nutrition and hasworked directly with parents and infants in clinical and community settings. In addition toher research and clinical work, Kinzie is passionate about translating nutrition scienceinto accessible, evidence-based information for families and professionals. She hasexperience in teaching, mentoring, and public-facing science communication, with aparticular interest in helping families navigate the complex and often conflictinginformation surrounding infant feeding.
