3rd Annual Barking Up The Right Bid

Over the next week, Northern Lakes Rescue will welcome 15 dogs into rescue&mdash;and every one of them already has a foster home waiting.Six local owner-surrender puppies arrive this Sunday with zero vetting, and on June 7th, our transport van will make its maiden voyage to bring nine dogs to safety from Oklahoma. Together, these 15 dogs will need:🐾 Vaccinations🐾 Microchips🐾 Parvo and 4DX testing🐾 Preventatives🐾 Food and supplies🐾 Crates, collars, leashes, toys, and blankets🐾 Transportation and fuel costs Our goal is to raise $1,500 to help cover these expenses.Here&#39;s what that looks like: 💙 300 people giving $5💙 150 people giving $10💙 60 people giving $25💙 30 people giving $50💙 15 people giving $100 No matter the amount, every donation moves us closer to our goal.The fosters are ready.The transport is scheduled.The dogs are coming.Now we need your help to make sure they have everything they need when they arrive. Puppy Food

When Northern Lakes Rescue says &ldquo;yes&rdquo; to a dog, that yes is for the remainder of that dog&rsquo;s life&mdash;and beyond. Toast first needed that yes in May 2025. She was just a tiny puppy when she came to NLR battling mange and malnutrition. Her skin was irritated, her coat was thin and patchy, and instead of simply getting to enjoy being a puppy, Toast needed medicated baths, proper nutrition, veterinary care, and time for her little body to heal. But Toast was a fighter. Slowly, her skin healed. Her fur grew back. She gained strength. The sick little puppy we first met blossomed into a happy, healthy girl who was eventually adopted into a loving home.For more than a year, Toast enjoyed the life we had hoped for her. Over time, however, personality conflicts began to arise between Toast and the other dog in the home. Her family worked to navigate the situation, but eventually it became clear that the dynamic was no longer the best fit for either dog. Thankfully, Toast had something many dogs do not:&nbsp;A safe place to land. Her family knew that Northern Lakes Rescue&rsquo;s commitment to Toast did not end when her adoption paperwork was signed. With the well-being of both dogs in mind, the decision was made for Toast to return to NLR and begin her next chapter. We welcomed her back without hesitation.Unfortunately, just as Toast was preparing to return to rescue, another problem appeared. A few days before coming back to NLR, Toast began limping and refusing to use one of her back legs. At first, her family thought she may have stepped on something or perhaps been stung by a bee. Everyone hoped it would be something simple.Once Toast was back in our care, we brought her to the veterinarian for an examination and X-rays. The diagnosis was much more serious than anyone expected. Toast has a completely torn CCL and damaged meniscus. Her knee is unstable and painful, and she is unable to use the leg normally. Toast will require TPLO surgery to stabilize the joint and give her the best chance of returning to a comfortable, active life. Her current surgical estimate is as high as $3,710.03 and includes surgery, anesthesia, IV fluids, pain medication, antibiotics, and follow-up radiographs. And surgery is only the beginning. Toast will also face weeks of restricted activity, careful monitoring, follow-up care, and rehabilitation while her leg heals. Instead of simply coming back to rescue, settling into a foster home, and beginning her next chapter, Toast is once again facing a medical battle. And this girl has already fought through enough.She fought through mange.She fought through malnutrition.She grew from a sick little puppy into the beautiful, resilient dog she is today.Now she needs us to fight for her again. When we first saw Toast&rsquo;s picture, saying YES was easy. That yes did not expire&nbsp;when she became healthy. It did not expire when she was adopted.And it certainly does not expire now that she needs major surgery. We are saying YES to Toast again.Yes to surgery. Yes to recovery. Yes to getting her back on all four paws. Yes to giving her the chance to walk, run, play, and enjoy the life she fought so hard to have. We just need your help to make that yes possible.
