Ollie Cat Sanctuary is dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating stray and abandoned cats, providing them with a safe haven, medical care, and the chance to find loving forever homes.

As a cat sanctuary, we run into many medical emergencies, routine vaccines and checkups, and even simple medications or tests. Medical expenses are one of the biggest expenses we face. We care about all of our sanctuary members and try to keep them all healthy and safe, which can require large medical bills at times. We appreciate any donations towards our medical debt, as it allows us to continue to care for our cats whenever medical attention is required. Below we have included some examples of medical emergencies we have faced that have gone towards our medical debt total. This does not include ALL of our medical debt expenses.

Zara ($2650): Zara was trapped and unexpectedly gave birth before we could spay her. During birth, she appeared to be in distress. We took her to the ER vet, found more kittens in her with an ultrasound, and she needed to get a C-section. Unfortunately, all four of her kittens passed due to a premature birth. She was also spayed during the C-section.

Spade ($720): We suspected FIP for Spade, seeing as he had a distended belly from a young age. He was reviewed by a vet and was determined not to have FIP. Got a second opinion after he did not get better, and they concluded after several tests he possibly had FIP. We are now giving him a 3-month treatment plan for FIP.

Janie ($1800): Janie was a 16-year-old cat we rescued from a difficult situation. She was severely underweight and eating very little, and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism requiring twice-daily medication. About a month later, she developed severe diarrhea and continued losing weight. At just 3.5 lbs, she was diagnosed with a gut infection and began to regain some weight. Unfortunately, a few weeks later, the diarrhea returned and she rapidly lost weight again. We took Janie to the vet for fluids, but sadly, she passed away later that afternoon.

Perry ($830): Shortly after trapping Perry, we observed him screaming in what seemed to be pain. We noticed he had a possible prolapsed anus. We took him to the vet, and they decided he needed a purse-string suture to repair the prolapsed anus. He was also diagnosed with an umbilical hernia that was repaired as part of the surgery.

Keke ($200): At a month old, Keke started showing signs of severe eye swelling and was taken to the vet. Keke's condition progressed and was determined to be a ruptured cornea, and the initial vet that examined her said she would eventually lose her eye. We began treatment with eye ointments and drops. The final treatment was 4 weeks of serum. Today her eye looks almost completely normal, only with a slight haze!

Grayson ($200): Grayson was a smaller kitten than his siblings. We noted this and that he seemed lethargic. We took him to the vet to keep him warm and provide nutrients and fluids. Unfortunately, Grayson passed away, most likely due to fading kitten syndrome.
