One Root Collective

LXCL:One Root Collective exists to empower youth and families through accessible, community-centered programs rooted in belonging, healing, wellness, leadership, and connection.Our mission is to create spaces where people feel safe to grow, supported in who they are, and connected to a stronger community.

A relaxed and welcoming space where high school students can connect, unwind, and be themselves. Participants will enjoy games, conversation, food, and activities centered on identity, leadership, and belonging. Rooted Fridays: Rising 9th–12th Grade Social Night

Get ready for a smoother school year. This practical workshop will help caregivers create routines that support organization, independence, emotional well-being, and successful school mornings. Participants will leave with strategies they can immediately implement at home, whether their child is entering kindergarten, middle school, high school, or somewhere in between. Rooted Fridays: Rising 6th–8th Grade Social Night

A leadership and wellness workshop designed for young men. Participants will build confidence, develop healthy habits, strengthen leadership skills, and connect with positive mentors in a supportive environment. The workshop combines physical activity, discussion, and team-building experiences that encourage boys to recognize their strengths and grow into confident leaders. A fun Friday night designed just for elementary students. Rooted Families: Family Mindfulness Night&nbsp; Join us for a relaxing evening designed to help families slow down, connect, and recharge together. Families will explore simple mindfulness practices through breathing activities, movement, calming art, and sensory-friendly experiences. This is a welcoming, neurodiversity-affirming space where caregivers and children can learn practical strategies for managing stress, building emotional awareness, and creating moments of calm at home. Rooted Families: Family Mindfulness Night

Creating Calm Spaces: A Family WorkshopMany children (and adults!) benefit from having a space where they can calm their bodies, regulate emotions, and take a break from overwhelming situations. Free childcare will be available on-site during the workshop for families who need it. During this interactive workshop, families will:&bull; Learn about sensory needs and regulation&bull; Explore calming tools and sensory-friendly supports&bull; Create a personalized Calm Space Plan for home&bull; Receive a sensory-friendly shopping guide with budget-friendly recommendations&bull; See examples of calm-down spaces for different ages and needs&bull; Connect with other families in a supportive environment This workshop is welcoming to all families and especially supportive for neurodivergent children, children with anxiety, highly sensitive children, and those who benefit from additional emotional regulation support. Families will leave with practical ideas they can implement immediately. Cost: Free (optional donation to support One Root Collective programming)

Creating Calm Spaces: A Family Workshop

Intro to ASLJoin us for a fun, beginner-friendly introduction to American Sign Language (ASL)! Participants will learn basic signs for greetings, emotions, self-advocacy, calming phrases, family members, and everyday conversations through games, movement, and interactive activities. This workshop is designed to be welcoming and accessible for Deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing participants. Live captioning will be provided. Workshop Times:<ul data-end="602" data-start="511" fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li data-end="560" data-start="511" fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Rising Kindergarten-5th Grade: 4:00-5:30 PM</li><li data-end="602" data-start="561" fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Rising 6th-12th Grade: 5:30-7:00 PM</li></ul>Participants will be grouped by age to ensure activities and discussions are developmentally appropriate. Get ready for a fun, family-friendly Silent Disco hosted by One Root Collective! At a silent disco, you&rsquo;ll wear wireless headphones and choose between different music channels, so you can dance to your own vibe while still being part of the party. This event is more than just a good time. All proceeds support One Root Collective&rsquo;s Rooted Minds Initiative, which provides academic and social-emotional support for neurodivergent youth in Champaign.
