Annual Museum Memberships
Support your love of history in Ottawa by becoming an annual supporter of the Ottawa Historical and Scouting Heritage Museum! The Ottawa Historical and Scouting Heritage Museum open as the Ottawa Scouting Museum in 1997. In 2012, the Ottawa History Room was opened and the museum got its new name. The Scouting Room of the museum features world-class exhibits relating to W.D. Boyce, who founded the Boy Scouts of America in 1916, Lord Robert Baden-Powell, who founded Scouting in England in 1907, the founding of Camp Fire Girls, and The Girl Scouts of America. The Ottawa History Room of the museum features permanent displays relating to the Peltier Glass Co., the Illinois-Michigan Canal, W.D. Boyce's Ottawa homes, Radium Dial, the Lincoln-Douglas Debate, and the Civil War. There are other exhibits here that are rotated every 5-6 months. The Museum is operated entirely by volunteers. Your membership and support are very important to the Museum. It is an investment in the work of preserving our history for future generations. Membership fees help us maintain the facility in which our museum resides, builds exhibits to share our story, present our lecture series to share what we have learned, and mang other things. As you are aware, utility bills, insurance, etc, have climbed steeply over the past year. Maintaining our facility relies on memberships. Members of the museum receive free admission to all new exhibits, discounts on our famous lecture series, and an invitation to our annual meeting dinner. Memberships are valid for one year from the date received.
