Park Takeover

Park Takeover is a Non-profit org. dedicated to creating free access to educational programming, community collaboration and preservation of our culture. Our Families are the foundation. We create safe spaces for Black, Indigenous, People of Culture.

Park Takeover Summer Museum Days&nbsp; This summer, we are inviting our families to intentionally expose our children to the beauty, creativity, and knowledge housed right here in San Diego&rsquo;s museums. Museums expand imagination. They strengthen critical thinking. They introduce our children to science, art, history, and innovation in ways that textbooks cannot. When children see themselves in spaces of learning and culture, it reinforces confidence, curiosity, and possibility. Regular museum visits nurture observation skills, patience, creativity, and a deeper connection to the world around them. We ask that families register for all three Museum Day dates to ensure you receive your Balboa Explorer Pass, which guarantees free access. When you attend all three scheduled visits, you automatically meet the annual requirement to renew your pass &mdash; allowing your family free museum access for the entire year. During our Summer Museum Days, we will gather at the Balboa Park Fountain in front of the Fleet Science Center and walk together to the museum we are visiting that day. Specific museums will be announced before summer begins. Each gathering includes fresh fruit and water for our children, and most importantly, intentional time spent learning and growing together in community. We look forward to walking, learning, and exploring alongside you.

Park Takeover presents Summer Camp 2026 🎨☀️ Join us for a FULL 6 weeks of hands-on art, play and connection in Balboa Parks! Your child will explore painting, drawing, and mixed-media projects that celebrate Black culture and the African diaspora. Our teaching artists provide all supplies + snacks&nbsp;(please pack a full lunch for your child)&nbsp;Reserve a spot below to help your child build confidence, creativity and community this summer. Ages 7-17

SeaWorld Family Field Trip &ndash; Veterans Appreciation Day&nbsp;Join Park Takeover Families as we kick off July with a fun-filled day at SeaWorld San Diego!Thanks to the generosity of military veterans from our own community, Park Takeover families have been gifted admission tickets for this special outing. Cool off with us at Free Swim Days at MLK Pool 🏊🏾&zwj;♀️ Join Park Takeover for a relaxed day in the water where the Youth can play, connect and be themselves.&nbsp;Swimming is free and families from across our community are welcome. Parents must be onsite unless otherwise arranged and approved with Park Takeover team.&nbsp; Reserve your spot so we can plan for lifeguards, snacks and a safe, fun day at the pool. 🌊

Park Takeover Family Fitness DayHosted by Sir William&rsquo;s | Rasta Meditation Join us every last Wednesday of the month from 4:30&ndash;6:30 PM at MLK Park for Family Fitness Day &mdash; a community-centered health and wellness experience for parents and children. Led by fitness trainer Sir William&rsquo;s under his Rasta Meditation brand, this program blends track &amp; field fundamentals, functional movement, mindfulness, and meditation. Children learn simple, memorable acronyms to help them retain healthy habits and practical fitness steps they can carry into everyday life. Family Fitness Day is designed to:&bull; Build physical strength and endurance&bull; Encourage discipline and consistency&bull; Teach mindfulness and breath control&bull; Strengthen family bonds through movement&bull; Promote long-term wellness habits We move together. Twice a year, Park Takeover gives away a&nbsp;hydroponic growing system&nbsp;to help a family or community member begin their journey into sustainable food growing.
