Mondays 6-9PM, Oct 5, 12, 19 &amp; 26Please note the classroom is only accessible via stairs Dive deep into play, personal discovery, and clown creation in this foundational clowning workshop!The clown lives in a state of play&mdash;physically open, emotionally transparent, and endlessly curious. Through a willingness to follow impulses, embrace the unexpected, and transform failure into possibility, the clown reveals what is most human, creating moments of laughter, connection, and surprise.In this workshop, you&#39;ll discover and develop your unique clown by amplifying the wisdom of your somatic body. Through playful exercises, physical exploration, and guided improvisation, you&#39;ll uncover the rhythms, gestures, movements, and quirks that make your clown uniquely yours. Rather than creating a character from the outside in, you&#39;ll reveal your clown from the inside out&mdash;following your body&#39;s natural impulses as they become a fully embodied clown form.Through solo, partner, and ensemble explorations, you&#39;ll deepen your clown&rsquo;s presence, responsiveness, and relationship to others. You&rsquo;ll leave with a core clown form that you can continue to play with, explore, and create from&mdash;both in performance and in your ongoing creative practice. Open to all experience levels. Hi! I&rsquo;m Joan E. Howard &mdash; first and foremost, I&rsquo;m a clown. The professional kind. Sometimes I wear a nose, sometimes I don&rsquo;t.I&rsquo;m also a play maker, teacher, tinkerer, and physical theater artist creating work at the intersection of clown, participatory theater, performance art, and installation. My practice is rooted in the belief that play, creativity, and clowning are inherent to everyone &mdash; and I&rsquo;m passionate about helping people unleash their inner idiot.
