Progreso Latino empowers Rhode Island's Latino and immigrant communities through education, workforce development, health services, and advocacy, fostering hope and resilience for families and individuals to thrive.

Progreso Latino is proud to invite the community to its 49th Anniversary Gala,&nbsp;Noche Tropical, on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet in Cranston, Rhode Island. This unforgettable evening celebrates nearly five decades of hope, resilience, and transformation for Rhode Island&#39;s Latino and immigrant communities while raising critical funds to support programs that empower families through education, workforce development, health services, and advocacy. The evening begins with a Cash Bar and Cocktail Hour from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., followed by Dinner and the Awards Program at 7:00 p.m. Guests will then enjoy dancing and live entertainment by Chocoband, featuring plena, bachata, merengue, salsa, and more.This year&#39;s gala will feature Keynote Speaker Dioscaris R. Garcia, Ph.D., and Honorary Chair Omallys Hopper of Cooking con Omi. During the celebration, Progreso Latino will recognize the outstanding contributions of the Nellie Mae Education Foundation, the Rhode Island Office of Healthy Aging &ndash; Older Adult Programs Team, and VNA of New England &ndash; Blackstone Health for their unwavering commitment to strengthening our community. The evening will also honor exceptional members of Progreso Latino&#39;s staff whose dedication makes a lasting impact every day, including Helen Ortiz, Mirna Manzano, and Valerie Gonzalez from the Older Adult Services Team, as well as Renee Martinez and Luz Rojas from the Youth Programs Team.Community members, businesses, and organizations are invited to support this special event through sponsorships or by purchasing tickets. Every contribution helps sustain programs that create opportunities, strengthen families, and build a brighter future for generations to come.
