Purrgatory Cat Rescue

Purrgatory Cat Rescue is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming cats in need. They strive to provide a safe haven for abandoned and neglected felines, promoting their welfare and advocating for responsible pet ownership.

We have an important update on our sweet Ophelia. We took her in last month after she had been living outside and was being taken care of by her neighborhood. During Ophelia&rsquo;s spay, our vet discovered that one of Ophelia&rsquo;s hind legs was stuck in place and would not lay flat like it should.&nbsp; They did an X-Ray and found a very damaged and arthritic hip. 😥 We believe Ophelia suffered a serious leg injury that tried to heal itself over time. Ophelia will require major surgery. She is not in any intense pain right now but this will change if she doesn&rsquo;t get surgery soon. She is stiff and uncomfortable but we have her on a pain relief plan.&nbsp; We are opting to give her a chance at a pain-free life with FHNE (Femoral Head &amp; Neck Excision) surgery. Recovery will be tricky for this surgery but we are so thankful to have a trained medical foster willing to care for her during her recovery period! This surgery (and recovery) will run us around $1,700-$2,000. We are holding a 💸virtual fundraiser💸 for miss Ophelia through Zeffy. Ophelia's Hip Surgery

Last weekend, our team got a text that Sprinkle, who has been blossoming in foster care, was limping and showing signs of extreme pain. When we got him into our vet, we got the worst news&hellip; Sprinkle has a severely broken leg. While we don&rsquo;t know exactly what happened, we suspect Sprinkle jumped or fell from something and fractured his humerus. It is a major fracture and is causing him intense pain. For now, Sprinkle is in a splint and is contained to a large dog cage.&nbsp;After a lot of deliberation with our vet and research into our best options, we determined that Sprinkle will need surgery to treat the fracture. This surgery involves a plate screwed to his bone to stabilize and allow the bone to heal properly. We will be working with an orthopedic surgeon to ensure Sprinkle has the very best care and chance at full recovery. This will be BY FAR our most expensive medical bill to date. We have currently spent $1,290 on X-rays, intermediate care, and a consultation with an orthopedic surgeon. We were quoted $4,500-$6,500 for the surgery.
