Rancho Los Alamitos Foundation preserves and shares the cultural heritage of Southern California through education, community engagement, and the stewardship of its historic ranch and gardens, fostering a connection to nature and history.

Join us at <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.rancholosalamitos.org/" id="isPasted" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer ugc" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Rancho Los Alamitos</a> for a guided cyanotype (sun printing) workshop led by Cottonwood Intern, Alyssa Savath. Cyanotype is an historic, printmaking process that utilizes the sun&#39;s UV light to produce images in shades of blue onto paper. During this workshop, take this time to slow down and get creative while learning how time, sunlight, and nature come together. Inspired by the Rancho&#39;s historic gardens and grounds, you&#39;ll experiment with botanical and art materials while learning about the science and history behind this unique process. After an introduction to cyanotype and a demonstration of the printing process, you&#39;ll create two sun prints to take home with you.&nbsp; Free onsite parking. All materials included. We encourage you to bring your own small personal or sentimental items to create shapes. Space is limited. Due to the intricate and processed nature of this event, it is recommended for those of ages 8 years and up.&nbsp; Rancho Los Alamitos is located within the gated community of Bixby Hill in Long Beach. The entry point is via the security gate at Anaheim Road and Palo Verde Avenue.

Calling all art enthusiasts! Join us for a relaxing morning with access to our grounds before our public hours. Bring your own art supplies and be inspired by the Rancho&#39;s historic barns and gardens. Art supplies can include watercolors, oil paints, sketchbooks, digital devices, etc. The Rancho will provide extra accommodations to safely dispose of any waste water and trash after the session. If available, you can bring your own chair, easels, and/or blankets. Towards the end of the session, we will encourage artists to come together for a &#39;throwdown&#39; to share their work.&nbsp; Participants can arrive any time between 10 AM and 1:00 PM, as there is no structured programming and art instruction.&nbsp;

Join us at <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.rancholosalamitos.org/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer ugc" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Rancho Los Alamitos</a> for a guided sensory experience while the sun is setting with certified Forest Therapy Guide, <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.pinyanpineforestbathing.com/about-4" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer ugc" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Meghan Pinyan</a>. Inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku, forest bathing means taking in nature through your senses. These slow and mindful walks offer an immersive sensory experience to explore your unique relationship with the earth. The walk begins with a grounding exploration to awaken the senses, followed by a series of crafted invitations to wander using your senses to explore the natural world. The walks are slow and at a gentle pace with periods of silence and reflection. The group will conclude with tea and snacks.
