RAWtools transforms guns into garden tools, fostering community healing and nonviolence. Through workshops and programs, they promote conflict resolution and cultivate a culture of peace, empowering individuals to reclaim their narratives and build safer communities.

This is a 3-day event sponsored by RAWtools, Inc.&nbsp; Day 1 - Making Safe Spaces for Survivors of Gun Violence. 10am to 4pm, lunch is inlcuded. Hear from experts in Colorado Springs with work in Suicide prevention, Mass Shooting response, and a survivor. A Moderated Panel with presenters will close the day. -As the Executive Director of Suicide Prevention Partnership,&nbsp;Cass Walton is dedicated to helping individuals build lives they want to live by connecting them with supportive resources, meaningful relationships, and effective coping strategies. With over 20 years of experience in mental health and human services, Cass brings both professional expertise and personal insight as a suicide loss survivor and mother of four. Her leadership in suicide prevention is deeply rooted in compassion, lived experience, and a commitment to community well-being. -Stoney Roberts is a community engagement leader dedicated to strengthening communities through advocacy and inclusivity. Stoney Currently serves as the Site Director for Prism Community Collective, a program of ChangeLine. Stoney has been a part of that project from it inception. And has personally and professionally focused to promote LGBTQ+ rights, equality, and inclusivity across the state and has worked with public, private, and nonprofit partners to advance strategies that support LGBTQ+ communities, with a focus on Black, Indigenous, and other people of color. As a longtime Colorado Springs community member, Stoney brings experience in stakeholder engagement, grassroots organizing, and public service -Amy Pickett-Williams founded LIGHT Movement in 2023 with the belief that no one should have to grieve alone. As a psychotherapist, yoga teacher, and educator, she brings together clinical experience and somatic practice to help individuals and communities understand how grief lives in both the mind and body &mdash; and how healing can happen through connection and shared support. -Kia Ruiz&nbsp;is a consultant and farmer working in food system and environmental spaces. Kia leads The Local Seeds Coalition, farms in Arvada, and is active in non-profit and local government spaces. She supports RAWtools and Guns to Gardens Denver events in her gun violence prevention efforts as a survivor and mother. Kia grew up in South Central Los Angeles in the late 70s and early 80s when the area was a state-sanctioned zone of high violence. Kia has been witness to and a target of gun violence as well as losing family members to this violence. Kia began gun violence advocacy after being caught across the street from STEM Highlands with her youngest child and that child then being in lockdown after an incident across from their school a year later. Kia is a Be SMART educator, was a chapter lead, national trainer, and is on the Brady Colorado State Committee. Kia calls her involvement with RawTools the lemonade in the lemons of this gun violence reality because the teams that come together to work make the necessity of this work a positive experience.&nbsp; Day 2 - NRA Home Firearm Safety Course taught by RAWtools South (Open to Public)$$ 8:30 - 5pmIn this instance, we use the NRA course, led by certified RAWtools staff, who bring a more survivor centered approach than what you might find at other NRA classes. This course focuses on basic firearm safety, and especially on how to clear and unload common firearms.&nbsp; Day 3 - Final RAWtools Firearm Safety Officer Training (Mock Event).$$ 8:30 -5pm &nbsp;*This training is for the RAWtools Guns to Gardens Network to fulfill requirement to have Firearm safety trained personnel at events. A prerequisite of this course is the previous day&#39;s Home Firearm Safety. The Home Firearm Safety course can be taken by folx outside of RAWtools as room allows.
