Marching Band Showcase Buses
The Marching Band Showcase was started years ago as an opportunity for some of the non-competitive marching bands in Howard County to perform for one another and strengthen the sense of camaraderie within the HCPSS band community. The event has grown to include almost all HCPSS high schools, and for several years has been split into two evenings to accommodate the number of participating schools. The showcase is a highlight of the marching season for many of our students. Here's what a few Marching Gators have to say about their experience attending the showcase:"Participating in the marching band showcase the past two years has been a really cool experience, as it showed me many different styles of marching band shows and what other schools are doing... It allows us to demonstrate the effort and time we've put into the show for that year.""I love going to the marching showcase every year. Not only is it another chance to play music I like, do drill that is fun, and hang out with friends, but it is a chance to perform for our peers across the whole county...""I loved the marching band showcase in all my previous years. Since we aren't a competitive school, the event is the closest thing we have to a competition. It's also a fun event seeing what other bands put together for their halftime shows.""I liked the Marching Band Showcase because it was a sort of competitive marching band experience, even though it wasn't a competition, and representing Reservoir and our band program in front of other county schools encouraged us to work hard and perform better than we would for a football game halftime."Despite the popularity of the event and the experience it offers our students and communities, HCPSS does not provide bus transportation or funding for bands to attend. As a result, we need your support. We are asking our marching band families to contribute toward the cost of transportation to the showcase if you are able. This includes two full-size school buses and renting a truck to transport percussion equipment and other large instruments. We anticipate the total cost to be approximately $500, or $7 per student if split between all members. Any amount you are willing to contribute will help make the event possible for the Marching Gators, and would be greatly appreciated!**We are using Zeffy to avoid transaction fees. There is an ask at the end of your order that asks for a % donation to Zeffy - this does NOT benefit RHS Music Foundation directly, so is completely optional. You are able change to $0.
