RippleMatters

RippleMatters fosters community engagement through educational events like astronomy nights, promoting curiosity about the universe and inspiring lifelong learning in science and exploration.

🎉 Excitement is in the air! Get ready to be part of the RippleMatters's free fall astronomy event. It's an event like no other, and we want you to be there! 🎉 Earth is not the only place in the universe. Learn about what lives in the skies! The moon is the closest celestial object to earth and humans walked on it 50 years ago. Beyond the moon we take a big jump to other planets such as Saturn which is 4000 times more distant than our moon. Huygens landed on its moon, Titan, on January 14, 2005. Beyond this we take another huge jump to arrive at a few double stars that are hundreds of light years away. We will never be able to travel this far, but we can get close by using a large telescope (150x magnification)!

Fall Astronomy Night with Dr Ron

Look up, neighbors! RippleMatters' astronomy night is back for round two — and the timing couldn't be better. Astronomy club advisor Dr. Ron will guide you across the night sky, with our teen volunteers staffing the telescopes and answering questions. Whether it's your first time at an eyepiece or your fiftieth, you'll leave seeing the sky differently. The highlights:

Saturn, at its showiest — just two weeks after its best night of the year, the ringed giant is still dazzling. Spot its rings and giant moon Titan through our telescope at up to 400 times magnification.

A stunning crescent-to-quarter Moon — with shadows racing across craters and mountains along the day-night line, this is the Moon at its most dramatic.

Double stars and deep-sky gems — split sparkling star pairs and hunt for distant wonders, skies permitting.
