Celebrate the holiday season in style and experience the vibrant sounds of &quot;Miletići: New Music from the Old Country&quot; in the heart of Silver Bay. Rocky Wall Entertainment proudly presents this unique concert, celebrating our commitment to enriching our community through live music.&nbsp; &quot;Miletići: New Music from The Old Country&quot; is Sam Miltich&#39;s newest musical project. The name Miletići is the plural of Sam and Matthew Miltich&#39;s traditional Croatian last name Miletic&#39;, and the name of the village where Matthew&#39;s father was raised as a child. This new ensemble focuses on music from Dalmatia, The Balkans, and the broader Eastern and Central European region. The band draws their repertoire from traditional Tamburitza and Romani Cocek music from the Balkans, Klapa music from Dalmatia, and Jewish Klezmer and traditional Slavic folk songs from Central and Eastern Europe.&nbsp; The band is composed of Sam Miltich as the leader playing both guitar, tamburitza, and vocals, Matthew Miltich on upright bass and vocals, Gary Schulte on violin, Mark Kreitzer on mandolin and guitar, and Tony Balluff on clarinet. What sets this ensemble apart from other traditional folk ensembles is that all of the band members are full time jazz musicians. &nbsp;Miletici puts new twists on old music by infusing the band&#39;s love of improvisation into traditional music. You may hear Klezmer songs played in a swing rhythm, or open improvised solo sections on a Romani Cocek from Macedonia. It is this spirit of improvisational exploration that truly sets this ensemble apart. NEW PRIMITIVES - ROCKY WALL BENEFIT HOUSE CONCERT

New Primitives was founded in Minneapolis in 2003 by drummer, singer, and songwriter Stanley Kipper. When he lived in southern California, Stan played, toured, or recorded with Minnie Riperton, The Bee Gees, Joe Walsh, Bill Withers, former Eagle Randy Meisner, Jay Ferguson, Andrew Gold, Karla Bonoff, Melanie, and Gypsy. The hits these artists made influenced Stan in making his own music: funky R&B/American Reggae with world music influences.  The band's first two records, New Primitives and American Nomads, received nationwide airplay, including top ten chart positions across America and Canada. Stan holds a 2020 Midwest Rock and Country Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award, and he and Chico were inducted into the St. Louis Classic Rock Hall of Fame for the band Gypsy.  In 2018, New Primitives recorded their third album, a live offering recorded at A440 studios in New Hope, a suburb of Minneapolis. Fans who have been following Charlie Parr through his recording career and decades of nonstop touring already know that the Duluth-based songwriter has a way of carving a path straight to the gut. His voice sounds weary but insistent, his accompaniment sparse and sorrowful. By the second line, the listener has no choice but to be transported on a journey through the burrows of his troubled mind, following him through shadowy twists and turns as he searches for a way out. “Parr’s ability to paint us a picture of his surroundings is astounding. His keen, empathic eye for the human experience can be mind-blowing in its specificity, whether he’s recounting his day or placing us on a creek bed in the rain beside him.” said Maeri Furgeson, in a review of Charlie in No Depression, The Journal of Roots Music. Charlie Parr is an American country blues musician. Born in Austin, Minnesota, he spent part of his childhood in Hollandale before starting his music career in Duluth. THE BELFAST COWBOYSis a nine-piece, horn-driven band from Minneapolis that specializes in the music of Van Morrison along with their own originals, mixing rock, blues, roots and soul sounds. Led by veteran songwriter and guitarist Terry Walsh and powered by a four-piece horn section, the Cowboys have flourished in the renowned Minnesota music scene, consistently packing houses and wowing crowds since 2002. Terry Walsh got his start playing in various Twin Cities rock bands and toured as Slim Dunlap&rsquo;s bass player in 1997, opening for Son Volt. But after 17 years, he almost gave it all up.&nbsp; &ldquo;I was very close to selling off my amp and guitars in an attempt to put away childish things and grow up,&rdquo; Terry laughs. &ldquo;Thankfully I got a call from my friend and booking agent Brian Swanson, who asked if I wanted to come join their &lsquo;go nowhere, do nothing rock and roll band.&rsquo;&rdquo; For a couple years, the band of friends rehearsed every Thursday, learning songs they loved. Then in spring of 2001, Terry lost his day job and learned his wife was pregnant. Brian once again prodded Terry, &ldquo;I think we should put your idea about that Van Morrison band in motion.&rdquo; They spent the rest of the year learning their favorite Van songs and built up an all-star band with Joe Loskota on keyboards and Vic Volare to run the horn section. Calling themselves The Belfast Cowboys, the band played their first show at the old 400 Bar on Saint Patrick&rsquo;s Day 2002. Shortly before that show, Brian accepted his dream job in California. Fortunately drummer Dave Kirby&rsquo;s friend, ace guitarist Dan Kowalke attended that first show and joined up. Many musicians played with the band over the first few years, and continue to do so today, but the &#39;A&#39; team was soon established: Dan Kowalke on guitar and backing vocals, Joe Baumgart (bass), Dave Kirby and Dave Haugen (drums, backing vocals), Joe Loskota (keyboards, backing vocals), Paul Gronert (sax), Matt Hanzelka (trombone), Tim Martin (trumpet), Vic Volare (sax, flute) and Terry Walsh (lead vocals, guitar, harmonica, piano). The band has expanded its content over the years to include rock and soul covers along with Terry&rsquo;s own originals, which have become fan favorites. Now a beloved staple in Minnesota, the 9-piece Belfast Cowboys, and the smaller version of the band (known as St. Dominic&rsquo;s Trio), averaged over 120 shows a year before the pandemic. In addition to guitar work with Lolos Ghost, he plays and records with Courtney Yasmineh, Tim Houlihan, Tina Schlieske, Patrik Tanner &amp; The Faraway Men and Ali Gray. JJ hails from Illinois, where he was reared on Brit Invasion, glam rock, power pop and esoteric poetry. Sideman to many, he&rsquo;s also a skilled songwriter in his own right. Jim Steinworth found a piano in the after-hours bar he lived above at age four. He found his dad&rsquo;s chromatic harmonica at age eight. He earned twenty five dollars after years of playing church organ. Classically trained, Jim found rock-n-roll to be more lucrative and has no plans to stop. He even plays accordion and performs with River Rats Dueling Pianos. Minneapolis native Clay Williams was bit by the rock and roll bug in junior high and hasn&rsquo;t stopped picking since. A succession of bands followed. Notably, Sneakers, a hard rock band that opened for Pat Benatar on her first American tour, and The &lsquo;Sota Band a regional country act. Followed by Lazy Ike and the Daredevils and his own trio The Dieselfitters, Roy Hubbs, and The Blackberry Brandy Boys. TURN, TURN, TURNThe trio consists of singer-songwriter guitarist&nbsp;Savannah Smith, singer-songwriter bassist&nbsp;Barb Brynstad, and singer-songwriter guitarist&nbsp;Adam Levy. They have been performing, touring, and writing together in close harmony since 2019. &ldquo;We wanted the music to feel like a road trip across time and place in America,&rdquo; says Brynstad about the new album. Together, they blend various musical styles, including American folk ballads, honky-tonk, norte&ntilde;o, Western gothic, bluegrass, and some influences from 1960s pop that originally brought them attention. The sounds evoke memories of&nbsp;Highway 61-era Bob Dylan, late 60s/70s&nbsp;Merle Haggard, Dolly Parton, George Jones, The Louvins, Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris, Scott Walker, Lee Hazlewood, and more distant roots. The trio&rsquo;s interpretation of the rich history of American music is not mere imitation; rather, it offers something original, unique, and personal within the broader spectrum of Americana. While their first two albums leaned towards psychedelic-country rock, this one is distinctly more acoustic and rural, characterized by banjos, mandolins, pedal steel guitar, clean twangy guitars, a robust bass, and back-porch rhythms. As with all their recordings and live performances, the magic of the trio is in the blending of their three distinct voices into harmonious melodies. Levy plays all the stringed instruments except for pedal steel, bass, and dobro. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s a guitar fest,&rdquo; he muses. The title of the album is tongue-in-cheek and self-referential, poking fun at weekend cowboys and rodeo-costumed city dwellers, as well as farmless ranch hands in their Stetsons. &ldquo;None of us have horses or farms,&rdquo; jokes Savannah Smith.&nbsp;Smith has spent years performing country covers, singing everything from Dolly Parton to Shania Twain, and runs a vintage clothing store specializing in 20th-century Western styles. Levy studied the history of country and soul music in college and aspired to become a country guitarist upon graduation, immersing himself in the techniques of greats like James Burton, Albert Lee, Don Rich, and Roy Nichols, while playing pickup gigs with honky-tonk bands in VFW halls, American Legion halls, and rural bars. While Brynstad plays a wide variety of music for many bands, her love for country music developed more recently, and she has taken to the bass styles and harmonies with great ease, adding unique twists to the genres the band explores.
