Saint Mauds empowers local kids through hands-on Slöyd (craft) education, fostering creativity and skill development. They provide engaging after-school programs and classes, ensuring every child has access to enriching learning experiences.

Your gift to the Sl&ouml;yd Scholarship Fund 2026 puts real tools (physical AND psychological) into kids&rsquo; hands ✊ 🧠&nbsp; You help regional students take part in Saint Mauds&#39; Sl&ouml;yd educational programming&mdash;no matter their family&rsquo;s income. Every contribution supports:<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Scholarships for all children in Hurley, Ironwood, Wakefield, Mellen, and the Superior Homeschool Co-op (with more to come!)</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Compensation for our instructors and apprentices</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Supplies, safety gear, and materials for hands-on craft and woodwork</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Creative, skill-building spaces (the Sl&ouml;yd Bus and Saint Maud&#39;s Workshop) where kids learn to design, build, and problem-solve together with focused and thoughtful leadership.</li></ul>This is a BIG goal - so to be clear on what it will fund for our incredible community - here&#39;s the breakdown: 2026 Spring Semester - We have 33 upcoming classes for Mellen, Ironwood and Hurley that are not yet funded. $9900 will cover all of those for 10 kids per class. 2026 Summer Session - $14400 will fund 3 classes per week, for 16 weeks (10 kids per class) We will spread these 48 classes out across our area farmers markets, at our shop and at other public locations within Iron, Ashland and Gogebic Counties. 2026 Fall Semester - $27,000 fully funds 18 weeks of classes for 4 school districts and 1 homeschool co-op! That&#39;s NINETY classes!&nbsp;

Thanks for checking out our fundraiser!&nbsp; As many of you may already know, the Sl&ouml;yd Bus was actually meant to be NEXT year&rsquo;s big project. But, due to some extenuating circumstances, we made a really big push to get it going this summer so we could continue delivering our most important part of our mission: PROVIDING SL&Ouml;YD TO AS MANY LOCAL KIDS AS POSSIBLE. We&rsquo;re really proud of the fact that we&rsquo;ve been able to achieve this with our new, beloved bus. NOW, we&rsquo;re working on how to continue this momentum through the school year! Of course, the semester&rsquo;s already upon us, so we&rsquo;re scrambling a bit to coordinate this. We are working on coordination with Hurley, Ironwood, Wakefield and Mellen school districts AS WE SPEAK for after school programs! We&rsquo;re also starting another year of Sl&ouml;yd with the Superior Homeschool Co-op next week too! We&rsquo;ll be teaching 2 classes to their amazing kids, every other Wednesday for the rest of the year.
