Sankofa Healing Studio

Sankofa Healing Studio fosters community healing through cultural arts, offering workshops like sekere making to connect individuals with their heritage and promote wellness through creativity and shared experiences.

Join us for Make Your Own Sekere, a three-part, hands-on workshop exploring the traditional art of sekere making. Participants will learn about the sekere&rsquo;s cultural history and significance while creating their own instrument through guided instruction and community-centered learning. All materials and supplies are included. Registration includes the complete three-part workshop series. Individual-session registration is not available. Make Your Own Sekere Workshop

Join the second cohort of Tesiwaju Sekere for Sekere: Rhythm, Lineage &amp; Community, a six-week class series led by Janet Mac, also known as Mama J.Participants will explore the art, history, and cultural significance of the sekere while learning to play individually and as part of an ensemble. Through hands-on instruction, cultural teachings, shared rhythm, and community-centered learning, participants will build their skills and become part of a collective sound. The series concludes with a student showcase on Saturday, October 24.
