SARA - Sexual Assault Resource Agency

SARA empowers survivors of sexual violence through advocacy, support, and education, fostering a community committed to healing and prevention. We strive to eliminate sexual violence and its impacts, ensuring safety and dignity for all.

Local breweries are coming together to raise awareness and funds for the Sexual Assault Resource Agency (SARA) during April, Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Each brewery hosts a release party for their unique brew. The brewers are putting their own twists on a beer that features Simcoe hops, an American varietal known for bright, citrusy flavors with earthy undertones. It is a favorite among American brewers and consumers alike, espcially for IPA lovers.&nbsp; SARA is a 501(c)3 non-profit agency working to eliminate sexual violence and its impacts through education, advocacy, and support services. SARA serves individuals and communities in the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Nelson. SARA works with survivors of all ages and genders, as well as nonoffending friends and family. SARA&rsquo;s 24 Hour Hotline is 434-977-7273.&nbsp;&nbsp;SARA offers FREE, confidential services to all survivors regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, gender expression or identity, age, economic status, education, parenthood, physical and/or mental abilities, national origin, immigration or documentation status, or any other status. On the eve of Sexual Violence Awareness Month, SARA will honor at least one community advocate with the Annette DeGregoria Grimm Award. Named in honor of Annette DeGregoria Grimm, who served as SARA&rsquo;s Executive Director from 1986&ndash;2001, this award recognizes extraordinary contributions to the elimination of sexual violence and its impacts in our community. We are thrilled to welcome our community into our new shared office and celebrate the power of partnership in supporting survivors, children, adults, and families. This co-location strengthens our ability to serve the community by reducing barriers, coordinating care, and improving the experience for those who may need services from both organizations. Together, we are creating a more seamless, trauma-informed response for our region. Light refreshments will be provided as we gather to celebrate this important milestone. The location will be near 5th St. next to the Rusty Iris bus.&nbsp; Grab a pair of headphones, choose your channel, and dance like nobody&rsquo;s watching&mdash;all while supporting the Sexual Assault Resource Agency (SARA) and Foothills Children&#39;s Advocacy Center.
