Our mission
SciCook is a San Diego nonprofit 501(c)(3) bringing together Food, Science, and Community. We believe food shouldn't be a commodity, and that hunger and nutritional insecurity come not from a lack of resources, but a lack of will to go the last mile.
Through All In Community Meals, our volunteers cook free, balanced, nutritious meals in partnership with St. Luke's Episcopal Church in North Park and the San Diego Food Bank, serving unsheltered neighbors and anyone facing hunger across downtown San Diego, shelters, and transition homes. Our Nutrition Education & Cooking programs offer free Saturday nutrition classes, hands-on cooking workshops, and team-building events, and SciEats brings culturally relevant food to the community at our North Park Farmers Market booth.
Founded in 2024 by physician-scientist Dr. Taher Sathaliya, SciCook uses underused community kitchens, surplus food, and the power of volunteers to make good food accessible to everyone with dignity and inclusion. We have enough. Let's go the last mile.
