Showpeople Theatre Collective presents its first musical in its New Works Reading Series. Yes, Virginia is an imagining of what led up to the writing of The Sun&#39;s famous &quot;Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus&quot; editorial. Following the editorial&#39;s author, Francis Pharcellus Church, Yes, Virginia tells the story of an uncaring journalist who finally finds a cause to believe in when he meets Amelia O&#39;Connor, an immigrant woman facing unemployment and eviction in the 1890s Lower East Side of Manhattan. Yes, Virginia&nbsp;features book, music, and lyrics by Showpeople Resident Artist Colby Thompson.

Showpeople Theatre Collective Inc.&nbsp;is a theatre nonprofit with the purpose of fostering new works and educating both ourselves and emerging artists through productions, workshops, and more. What your donation helps us do:<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Rent rehearsal spaces for new works</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Purchase costumes, props, and video production equipment</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Offer stipends to our artists where possible</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Acquire rights to licensed works</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Make even higher quality content to share with our audiences&mdash;primarily for FREE</li></ul>Consider joining us during our FIFTEEN HOUR STREAM (June 13th @9am &mdash; June 14th @ 12am) for various events and interviews with cool theatre people, and, possibly donating to our organization to further our adventures in making theatre arts accessible to more people.&nbsp; We thank you in advance for your support!
