Each session focuses on practical ways to help children from birth to age five grow healthy, curious, and ready for kindergarten. 📚 CPR/First Aid:&nbsp;Participants will become certified in Red Cross approved basic adult, child, and infant CPR and First Aid. The primary purpose of this training is to help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing, and first aid emergencies. The training is designed to teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person and decide whether advanced medical care is needed. After you submit, our team will review your information and confirm your spot by email. Your participation helps build a stronger start for young children in Yadkin County through everyday moments of play, reading, and connection. 🌱

SSYC Training: CPR/First Aid

Join us for Part 1 of &ldquo;Helping Preschool Children with Autism &ndash; Language Development,&rdquo; a focused training for parents, caregivers, and early childhood educators. Together, we&rsquo;ll look at practical ways to support communication in everyday play and routines, grounded in what we know about child development. Helping Preschool Children with Autism-Language Development Part 1:&nbsp;Participants will learn specific skills for promoting language development with young children suspected to be on the autism spectrum, including child-directed narrated play, appreciating the importance of gesturing, imitation, modeling, face-to-face interactions, adjusting verbal and nonverbal language according to the children&rsquo;s communication stage, use of positive affect and exaggerated facial responses, and understanding how to set up practices to prompt social communication.

SSYC Training: Helping Preschool Children with Autism-Language Development Part 1

This training focuses on preventing Shaken Baby Syndrome, Abusive Head Trauma, and child maltreatment in the earliest years of life. You&rsquo;ll learn practical strategies to soothe infants, handle stress, and create safe routines that protect children birth to age five. Prevention of Shaken Baby Syndrome/ Abusive Head Trauma/Child Maltreatment:&nbsp;Participants will receive an overview of child abuse and Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS). They will learn the dangers of SBS and how to prevent it. Learning outcomes for child maltreatment include: identifying outward signs of abuse and neglect, discussing family and environmental situations that may trigger abuse, stating ways to prevent abuse from occurring in child care settings, and listing the caregiver&rsquo;s role in reporting suspected abuse/neglect.*Meets the criteria of 1 of the Health &amp; Safety Training topics. However, it does not take place of the required training from Prevent Child Abuse NC (PCANC)* Designed for parents, caregivers, and early childhood educators, this session supports Smart Start of Yadkin County&rsquo;s mission to help children grow up healthy and ready for kindergarten. Your participation helps build a safer community for our youngest children.

Give Like Dolly Day

Learn practical fire safety skills to protect the children in your care. 🔥 This training is designed for parents, families, and early childhood educators who want clear, step‑by‑step guidance for preventing fires and responding in an emergency. Fire Safety:&nbsp;Participants will receive an overview of key aspects related to basic fire safety, gaining knowledgeable skills to maintain a safe, healthy learning environment and to prepare themselves and others in the facilityto act promptly in case of a fire emergency. Conducted by the Yadkin County Fire Marshal. This class will satisfy the DCDEE requirements for annual fire safety training.

SSYC Training: Fire Safety

ITS-SIDS training helps you create a safer sleep environment for infants in your care. This session is designed for early childhood educators and caregivers who want clear, practical steps to reduce the risk of SIDS and other sleep‑related incidents. ITS-SIDS:&nbsp;Participants will receive an overview of sudden infant death syndrome, identify risk factors and describe ways to reduce the risk of SIDS in child care. The national standards for sleep safety will be presented and resources will be shared for both child care providers and parents. Topics include NC SIDS Laws, child care licensing rules for safe sleep, as well as how to develop a safe sleep policy. Key messages of this training include engaging in safe sleep practices and creating a safe sleep environment for infants and toddlers.

SSYC Training: ITS-SIDS

SSYC Training: Medication in Child Care supports your work with young children by focusing on safe, consistent medication practices in early learning settings. This session is designed for caregivers and early childhood educators who want clear guidance they can use right away. Medication in Child Care (Administration of Medication, with Standards for Parental Consent):&nbsp;Participants will learn medication best practices in early care and education including receiving, documenting, storage, and disposal. They will learn about NC Child Care regulations, types of medication, and the forms that are required to be completed before giving medication. They will also learn how to recognize, respond to, and report a medication error.*Meets the criteria of 1 of the Health &amp; Safety Training topics*

Learn CPR and First Aid skills that help keep our youngest children safe. This training is designed for parents, caregivers, and early childhood educators who support children from birth to age five. CPR/First Aid:&nbsp;Participants will become certified in Red Cross approved basic adult, child, and infant CPR and First Aid. The primary purpose of this training is to help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing, and first aid emergencies. The training is designed to teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person and decide whether advanced medical care is needed.

Thank you for registering for SSYC&rsquo;s Health &amp; Safety 2 part training.&nbsp; Part 1: Prevention &amp; Control of Infectious Diseases, including Immunization: &nbsp;Participants will learn about infectious disease and how it is spread. They will be taught how to prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases. They will also learn the importance of immunizations, proper hygiene and sanitation routines, how to recognize ill children, and when to exclude children from care.*Meets the criteria of 1 of the Health &amp; Safety Training topics* Part 2: Handling &amp; Storage of Hazardous Materials &amp; the Appropriate Disposal of Bio-contaminants:&nbsp;This course will teach how early child educators can minimize exposure to hazardous materials and toxic substances. Participants will learn to identify and avoid common indoor hazards to keep both adults and children safe in child care. Participants will also learn about NC Child Care and NC Sanitation rules regarding safe use of and storage of hazardous materials and toxic substances.&nbsp;*Meets the criteria of 1 of the Health &amp; Safety Training topics*

SSYC Training: Helping Preschool Children with Autism&ndash;Social Interactions Part 1 offers practical strategies to support young children as they learn to play, share, and connect with others.&nbsp; Helping Preschool Children with Autism-Social Interactions Part 1-&nbsp;Participants will learn specific skills for promoting social interactions with young children suspected to be on the autism spectrum, including how to model, prompt, and coach children&rsquo;s social skills, understanding the ABCs of behavior change, the importance of responding enthusiastically with praise and gestures, pausing to wait for a child&rsquo;s response or signal, using intentional coaching communication, understanding how to set up drama pretend play and cooperative play activities, understanding how to use picture play scripts to promote joint play, and understanding how to set up structured play scenarios to help children practice social skills.
