Join River Walk Collective artist Emma Friedland at the beautiful Yampa River Botanic Park for an inspiring introduction to botanical illustration. Learn techniques that will make your outdoor adventures more thoughtful, creative, and memorable while helping you capture the beauty of the natural world through sketching. The workshop will begin inside the Trillium House, where Emma will guide participants through exercises focused on observing and capturing the essence of flowers using cut arrangements. Participants will then head outdoors for a plein air (open-air) sketching session, applying these techniques directly in the garden setting. Designed for all skill levels, this workshop is fun, encouraging, and educational&mdash;whether you&#39;re picking up a sketchbook for the first time or looking to deepen your observational drawing practice. Drawing is more than a skill&mdash;it&#39;s a way of seeing. In this welcoming workshop, artist and designer Eric Anderson will guide participants through the fundamentals of drawing, including sketching, perspective, positive and negative space, tone, value, and composition. Through demonstrations, guided exercises, and individual projects, participants will build confidence while developing their own creative voice. Working from objects, landscapes, and live models, students will receive personalized instruction and explore how drawing can be combined with other media to create layered, expressive artwork. Whether you&#39;re picking up a pencil for the first time or returning to a longtime interest, this class offers a supportive environment to strengthen observation skills, deepen creativity, and develop a sustainable drawing practice. About the Instructor Eric Anderson is an artist, designer, and educator whose work bridges drawing, architecture, and visual storytelling. He has lectured at the University of Colorado Denver and co-founded the Aspen Summer Program. Eric holds degrees from SUNY Alfred, The Ohio State University (cum laude), and Columbia University, with additional studies at ETH Z&uuml;rich and the University of Oxford. He is also teaching a youth drawing camp through Steamboat Creates this summer, sharing the joy of drawing with artists of all ages. Larry Fagen - Imagination is Freedom

With a special portrait dedication and community tribute Join us for an evening of remembrance, reflection, and local history as we honor Corporal Leo Hill, the first Routt County resident killed in World War I and the namesake of American Legion Post 44. Presented by Riverwalk Collective artist, Air Force veteran, and history enthusiast and researcher Pete Wood, this program shares original research into early 20th-century life in Routt County and Steamboat Springs, and explores how World War I shaped our community and helped define the region we know today. Through Pete&rsquo;s work, the story of one serviceman becomes a window into a broader moment in local history. The evening will include the dedication of a newly commissioned portrait of Corporal Hill to the Veterans Center, creating a permanent tribute to his legacy. A special art auction will also take place in support of this effort. This gathering offers a meaningful opportunity to connect with local history, honor a life of service, and reflect on the enduring ties between past and present. In bringing this story forward, one veteran helps ensure that another&rsquo;s legacy continues to be seen, remembered, and honored in our community.

Join prolific painter and seasoned teaching artist Andrea Abrahamson for a dynamic painting experience set to live music. &nbsp;Feel the beat, follow the rhythm, and watch your brush come alive! &nbsp;In this workshop, you&rsquo;ll explore painting fundamentals while creating a unique canvas to take home, discovering how mood, tempo, and sound can inspire color, movement, and fresh ways of seeing. &nbsp;Live music will be performed by Carly Stone and Adam Stone. Participants will create a fairy door as a symbolic threshold between memory and possibility. Guided by PiccolaTino artist Sarah Valentino, this workshop offers space to honor those we carry with us while imagining the change, belonging, and visibility we hope to see in our community. Through hands-on making and quiet reflection, participants will explore how grief can become a bridge&mdash;connecting past, present, and what comes next. No prior art experience is required; all materials are provided, and all are welcome. Price is per project. All materials for creating your fairy door are provided. If you&rsquo;d like to include a special memento, keepsake, or personal item in your design, you are welcome to bring it along to make your door even more meaningful.

Join guest artist Garrett Bock for a fun, hands-on introduction to printmaking using LEGO bricks. Participants will build original designs, apply ink, and create unique prints while exploring the creative possibilities of shape, pattern, and repetition. This workshop combines the playful spirit of building with the excitement of printmaking, making it perfect for artists, makers, LEGO enthusiasts, and families. Through experimentation and exploration, participants will discover how simple LEGO constructions can be transformed into striking works of art. No prior printmaking experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided. Participants will leave with their own collection of handmade prints and plenty of ideas for future creative projects. Join Riverwalk Collective artist Dan Rosenbaum for an introduction to the ancient art of lost-wax bronze casting. The workshop begins with a brief presentation exploring the bronze casting process&mdash;from wax model to finished sculpture&mdash;followed by a hands-on session creating original sculptures in wax. Participants will learn techniques used by professional sculptors while creating their own small wax forms in a fun, supportive environment. One of the joys of working with wax is that it&#39;s incredibly forgiving. Shapes can be cut, melted, reshaped, and reattached, making it easy to experiment, play, and discover new ideas as you work. Whether you&#39;re interested in sculpture, curious about bronze casting, or simply looking to try something new, this workshop offers a creative and approachable introduction to the process. No prior sculpture experience is required, and all materials will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring their own safety glasses if they have them; a limited number of pairs will also be available.
