Be a champion of history! The Sugar Creek Historical Society began in 1973 as the Society for the Preservation of Our Indian Heritage. In 1977 we opened the Thorntown Heritage Museum honoring the Eel River Miami tribe and those who settled in Thorntown after 1830. In 1999, we became the Sugar Creek Historical Society honoring all of Thorntown and Sugar Creek History. Becoming a member means keeping history alive at the Thorntown Heritage Museum. Members help with tours, programming and attend meetings. Donations are used for museum maintenance and operations as well as programming and purchasing of artifacts. With your support, we can ensure FREE programming to all ages year round! Members receive newsletters via email or mail and get first invite to member exclusive events.
