Learn to build AI applications with enhanced security, implementing best practices for secure and responsible AI development. In this session, Gavin will walk through the OWASP Top 10 for Large Language Model (LLM) applications &mdash; and cover the most critical security risks associated with AI systems. He is the former head of demos and workshops for the AI Village and the lead author for two of the OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications.&nbsp;He is also the founder of the YouTube channel&nbsp;<a fr-original-style="" href="https://youtube.com/@netsecexplained" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: initial; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">NetSec Explained</a> where he shares intermediate to advanced level network security topics in an easy-to-understand way.&nbsp; Gavin is dedicated to sharing his knowledge with the next generation of cybersecurity professionals, to help them level up their skills. His current research focus is in finding ways to address the cybersecurity skills gap, by utilizing AI/ML to augment the capabilities of existing security resources.

February 2026 Hardware Happy Hour (3H) - Phoenix

We&#39;re excited to welcome&nbsp;Sharlene Toney who will be our (remote) guest speaker this month.&nbsp; Sharlene will shed light on a little known but extremely important and personal issue related to student privacy due to data brokers and third-party partnerships.&nbsp;This will be a smaller, more intimate version of the talk she gave on the same topic at DEFCON this year. Come by the lab with all your questions ready. If you have been, will be, or ever were a student (or your family members have been or will be) you&#39;re not going to want to miss this one.&nbsp; About Sharlene Toney Sharlene Toney has worked in higher education for the last 20 years, with 12 years as a business analyst in Enterprise Student Systems. With a growing interest in the cybersecurity and privacy landscape, she returned to school to complete an M.S. in Cybersecurity Risk Management that she will finish in May &rsquo;26. She has spent a significant amount of time focusing on the value of student data to external organizations, what student data pipelines look like, and the impact of lack of consent and notification on privacy. She has presented on these topics at DEF CON 33 and the EDUCAUSE Annual Conference to ignite conversations about how few students are aware of how far their data travels and what we can do to address this.&nbsp; She received her CIPP/US certification through the International Association of Privacy Professionals in August and plans to pursue privacy policy analysis and compliance positions in the spring. Finally, she believes that we all have something we can give back, so she joined other privacy, safety, and cybersecurity professionals who volunteer their time with&nbsp;<a fr-original-style="" href="https://safeescape.org/" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: initial; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Operation Safe Escape</a>. Phoenix Kotlin Users Group - October Meetup

October 2025 Hardware Happy Hour (3H) - Phoenix

During this free workshop attendees will learn to go beyond entering prompts into an AI chat website and instead intentionally leverage cloud-based and local AI systems to create useful, practical, custom systems for their daily lives. By better understanding the mechanism behind AI, users will become empowered to do anything from finally get their inbox under control to plan a custom murder mystery dinner party. There will be two separate workshops. The first will be for general computer users and non-technologists and the second will be aimed at more advanced technologists. The second workshop will include a deep dive into how exactly AI inferencing works and other more technical aspects of AI tools.
