The Barra School, Inc fosters individual and collective growth through nature-based, trauma-informed workshops for at-risk youth and underserved communities, promoting healing, resilience, and connection with the natural world.

Adult Pottery Programming -&nbsp;learn kick-wheel pottery at the historic South Road Pottery Studio in Bradford, VT. These group lessons are a time to slow down, tune into your body, and meditate on the rhythm of the wheel and the feel of the clay. You will be guided through the steps of making various pieces of wheel thrown pottery and will have the opportunity to bisque, glaze, fire, and keep several pieces.&nbsp; A $25 materials fee for every 3 days of lessons is required.&nbsp; All adult programming serves as fundraisers to support our free youth programs, including day camp, overnight camp, OUTReach and OUTings, and expeditions.&nbsp; By registering, you help sustain accessible programs for local youth as well as populations of at-risk and marginalized youth, including LGBTQIA+ young people. 🌱 Your participation strengthens a community rooted in care, respect for Abenaki lands, and the restoring power of the forest. Taught by Miranda Moody Miller with appearances by Bruce Murray, Master Potter.&nbsp;

Reserve Your Youth&#39;s Spot at Camp This Summer🌲 <a fr-original-style="" href="https://forms.gle/wunRfnBwgkZasFBfA" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: initial; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">After completing the day camp registration form</a>, please secure your youth&#39;s place in our programming by submitting a deposit for each week of camp your youth would like to attend.*&nbsp; Your sliding-scale camp registration deposit secures your youth&#39;s place in our otherwise free summer day camp programming which includes 7 weeks of specialized programming in creative arts/pottery, nature-based humanities, music theater/film production programming, and hiking/nature-writing. See below for the full list of camp weeks/themes.&nbsp; Your registration deposit helps to cover expenses not included in our grant funding, such as meals, insurance, and mortgage payments. If you cannot afford any of the sliding-scale registration deposit options, please let us know. We are committed to assuring all interested youth/families can participate in camp regardless of their ability to pay this fee and are happy to give you the 100% off discount code no questions asked; just send us an email! Our summer day camp provides trauma-informed curriculum and instruction as well as hands-on, place-based, and neurodivergent-friendly practices to assure all youth feel safe, supported, and engaged during their time with us.&nbsp; This programming is open to youth ages 5+ unless otherwise noted. Youth of all backgrounds and needs/abilities are welcome. Accommodations will be provided, as needed; please let us know! A nutritious and allergen-friendly breakfast, lunch, and multiple snacks are provided. Join us and spend the weekend camping, hiking, swimming, and sitting around the campfire!&nbsp; Activities include:&nbsp;Guided Forest Therapy WalksGuided Meditation, Yoga, Taiichi, Qigong, and Somatic PracticesNature Journaling, Foraging Walks, and Ethnobotany ActivitiesNight Hikes with Stargazing&nbsp;Fire Ceremonies&nbsp;Song Circlesand...Smores! All gear/equipment (backpacks, tents, sleeping bags/pads, etc), as well as materials/supplies and food/beverage are provided.&nbsp; Proceeds from adult camping weekends supports our free youth programming.&nbsp; Fees are sliding scale to support access for all who are interested in attending.
