When the temperature drops, The Branches opens its doors.Winter can be dangerous for our neighbors experiencing homelessness, housing instability, and other hardships. When Code Blue is declared in Cape May County, The Branches Outreach extends its hours to provide a safe, warm place to go during the day.But warmth means more than turning up the thermostat. It means a hot meal. A hot shower. A cup of coffee. Clean clothes. Personal care supplies. A place to sit safely out of the cold. A familiar face. And a connection to the resources that can help someone move forward.During the 2024–2025 winter season, Cape May County experienced 74 Code Blue days. On those days, The Branches sees a significant increase in the number of people seeking services—our average daily guest count nearly doubles, from approximately 44 guests in the summer to more than 77 during the winter. That increase means increased need—and increased cost.Code Blue operations require additional:

Heat, hot water, and electricity as we extend our hours

Food, coffee, and kitchen supplies for additional guests

Showers, personal care items, and clean clothing

Cleaning and sanitation supplies

Staffing and security to keep our center safe and welcoming

Emergency supplies such as gloves, hand warmers, and transportation assistance

This winter, help us keep the warmth going.Every Code Blue day represents another day that someone in our community has somewhere to go.Your support of Warmth for Winter helps The Branches remain open, prepared, and ready to meet our neighbors where they are when they need us most.Because no one should have to face a Cape May County winter alone.Give warmth. Give safety. Give hope.

When Life HappensWhen life takes an unexpected turn, it can be hard to ask for help. A missed paycheck, a medical emergency, an eviction notice, a broken-down car, or the opportunity to enter recovery can quickly become a crisis. At The Branches Outreach, we never want money to be the reason we have to say yes or no.Our Emergency Fund gives us the flexibility to respond when someone needs help right now—not weeks later. These unrestricted funds allow us to provide practical assistance such as transportation to work or medical appointments, replacement IDs and birth certificates, emergency motel stays, first-month sober living costs, rental or utility assistance, food, and other urgent needs that help people remain safe, stable, and moving forward.Every gift, no matter the amount, helps us meet people where they are with compassion, dignity, and hope.Thank you for standing with your neighbors and helping us say "yes" when it matters most. ❤️

The $2 Shower Challenge. Two Dollars. Every Tuesday. A Whole Lot of Good. Let's be honest. Two dollars doesn't get you very far these days. But at The Branches? Two dollars goes a long way. It costs The Branches an average of just $2 to provide someone with a complete shower experience, including access to a warm shower, the essentials, and a little dignity that can make a big difference. This November, we're challenging our community to give just $2 every Tuesday in support of the everyday necessities and unexpected needs our neighbors face.Your $2 helps keep showers available, provides toiletries and personal care essentials, and helps support emergency assistance when life takes an unexpected turn. And here's the part we really love: We hope you won't stop when November ends. Our goal is to turn $2 Tuesdays into a year-round habit of giving small, consistent contributions that add up to meaningful support for the people who count on The Branches. You might not think $2 can do much anymore. But together, we can prove otherwise.Give $2 this Tuesday. Pass the challenge along. And help us make a little go a long way.

The Road Ahead CampaignEvery day, The Branches Outreach is on the move. From recovering donated food to delivering groceries, transporting essential supplies, and bringing services directly into the community, our work depends on getting where people need us most. Last year alone, The Branches Outreach welcomed more than 9,200 visits to our Day Center, served over 11,000 warm meals, distributed nearly 5,000 pantry allocations, and provided hundreds of case management and advocacy services to neighbors across Cape May County. As the need across Cape May County continues to grow, so does the demand on our outreach vehicle. We're raising funds to purchase and outfit a dedicated outreach van that will allow us to expand food recovery efforts, strengthen our mobile pantry, support outreach initiatives, and serve more neighbors across Cape May County. A dedicated outreach van will help us recover more donated food, reach underserved communities, and respond more effectively to the growing needs of our neighbors—ensuring we're ready to serve wherever we're needed most. This campaign isn't about buying a van. It's about making sure we can continue showing up—for families facing food insecurity, for individuals working toward stability, and for every neighbor who turns to The Branches Outreach for support. If you believe everyone deserves access to food, resources, and compassionate care, we invite you to be part of The Road Ahead. Together, we can keep our community moving forward.
