The Megan Kelley Foundation supports individuals and families affected by Substance Use Disorder through education, advocacy, and community events. They honor loved ones lost and celebrate recovery, fostering hope and understanding in the fight against addiction.

The 8th Annual Wisconsin Lights of Hope A Recovery Celebration and Memorial Walk is a Recovery Celebration and Memorial Walk honoring our loved ones impacted by Substance Use Disorder (SUD). We gather to remember loved ones, stand with recoverees to celebrate their recovery and to support families and friends who lost loved ones.&nbsp; This Walk helps spread awareness that SUD can happen to anyone. We will stroll around the trails at Pierce Park to reflect on people&#39;s lives by viewing the Memorial Signs and you will also see Recoveree Signs--recovery is entirely possible and everyone is encouraged to remember there are multiple pathways to recovery.&nbsp; Join us to talk to resource vendors prior to the Walk event and after the Walk to find out available services. Browse the raffle baskets and make your choice on the ones you like. You need to pick up the basket the day of the event.&nbsp; There will be kids&#39; activities, rock painting and if you haven&#39;t already had a Tombstone made of your loved one who is no longer here, we will have some available for you to make a Tombstone of your loved one for next year&#39;s Trail of Truth. Bring along a picture of your loved one. We have templates to follow...there will be paint, brushes, acrylic pens, stencils to complete the Tombstone--let us know prior to the Walk that you plan on working on a Tombstone.&nbsp; Vivent Health and Outagamie County DHS will be available for Narcan Training.&nbsp;Thanks to Vivent Health, you can make a button of your loved one who died or loved one in recovery--be sure to bring a 2&quot; round &quot;clear&quot; picture. You can also opt to use the number of years you&#39;ve been in recovery and include a saying.&nbsp; Your registration helps The Megan Kelley Foundation educate, advocate, and support individuals and families struggling with loss and to bring a message of hope--Recovery is entirely possible! Walk with us, share a name, carry a light, and be part of a community that chooses hope and understanding over silence 🚶&zwj;♀️🚶&zwj;♂️. The five Wisconsin Memorial Quilts will be displayed. You will have an opportunity to submit your loved one for the next Quilt.&nbsp; After the Walk, grab some food provided by Rupena&#39;s Catering, Milwaukee, water, recovery cake and cookies while you listen to impacted family members and people in recovery.&nbsp; Participants will be invited to share their stories of loss and recovery.&nbsp; Jessie Meyers is a mom in long-term recovery who will share her story of losing her husband and now her own story of recovery.&nbsp; Alex Schotten is a person in long-term recovery who is a poet and author of two books, will share some of his poems with us.&nbsp; I&#39;m excited to announce that Anthony Alvarado and Nadine Machovesh from RISE TOGETHER will be sharing their stories. Anthony lost his son, Gavyn, at 17 to fentanyl. Anthony is currently involved in the Unbroken project. Nadine&#39;s book, Enough, was published last year.&nbsp; We will end with an LED candle lighting ceremony and will have an opportunity to say your loved one&#39;s name.
