Our opening program explores love in its many forms, romantic, spiritual, and familial, through music by Gwyneth Walker, Samuel Barber, Thomas LaVoy, Joanna Marsh, and others. Walker's lush A Heart in Hiding, a 2006 TCS commission setting the poetry of Emily Dickinson, captures love's exhilaration and mystery, while Barber's beloved The Coolin offers a timeless invitation between lovers. Joanna Marsh's powerful Everlasting Covenant expands the theme outward, pairing Dickinson's reverence for the natural world with the prophet Isaiah's warning against its destruction. Together these works invite us to reflect on the connections that continue to shape our lives long after they are first forged.Christmas with TCS - December 12, 2026, 5pmLocation:Church of the Epiphany1317 G St NWWashington, DC 20005Celebrate the season with Thomas Circle Singers' golden-anniversary Christmas concert! This festive program journeys from the quiet anticipation of Advent to the radiant joy of Christmas through music both familiar and new. Abbie Betinis' Behind the Clouds reminds us that hope shines even in the darkest moments, while Elaine Hagenberg's serene The Music of Stillness offers a moment of winter contemplation. Rhythmic settings by Tamsin Jones and Iain Farrington echo older musical styles, Michael Fili's A Carol from Flanders recalls the humanity of the Christmas Truce of 1914, and Kevin Siegfried's luminous cantata Vidimus Stellam traces the theme of light from Advent through Epiphany in a brilliant collaboration for choir and brass. Sing along with beloved carols and join us for an evening of warmth, wonder, and holiday tradition.Echoes: Thomas Circle Singers' 50th Anniversary Concert - May 8, 2027, 4pmLocation:St. Columba's Episcopal Church4201 Albemarle St NWWashington, DC 20016Our fiftieth anniversary season culminates in a celebration of the music that has helped define Thomas Circle Singers.
