***For ages 18+*** From Wounds to Words brings together community members, mental health professionals, and mental wellness resources to explore healing through honest conversation and creative expression on the last Saturday of BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month.&nbsp; We are grateful to have two mental health experts facilitating: Nigerian born Natasha Ewa of <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.ittandwellness.com" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; -webkit-user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">I Thrive Therapy &amp; Wellness</a>; and Kenyan born Mike Kategaya of <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.hubformen.com" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; -webkit-user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Hub for Men</a>. We are looking forward to our dancers adding a touch of authentic African flavor to your celebration.&nbsp; Details<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">The event will take place at the Springhill Suites by Marriott at the VA Beach Oceanfront</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Performers will arrive 30 minutes before the performance time.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Performance time is approximately 7:30 PM</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Dancers and drummers will perform a 10-15 minute set, immediately followed by an interactive BEGINNER-FRIENDLY dance session.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">The Ensemble will be compensated $1200.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">A 50% deposit of $600 is due at booking, with the remainder balance due by 7:30 PM on July 18. Join us for one class for 6 weeks at a time - the more you commit, the more you save AND the better you feel and look! What to Expect: After a warm up, the first half of the class will be dedicated to using African moves and fitness variations to get you in shape. The second half of the class will be dedicated to cultural (traditional) dance from a specific country. Thank you for supporting our mission to bring cultural arts to our area. Middle & High School Afrobeats Dance Workshops

We are adding Afroletics&trade; to <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.taca757.org" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: initial; -webkit-user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Tidewater African Cultural Alliance</a>&#39;s Dance classes! Afroletics&trade; is a high energy Afro Rhythm fitness program that blends powerful movements, original music and cultural roots. Created by German based Ghanaian dancer and trainer Isaac Kyere, Afroletics&trade; turns Afro inspired rhythms and simple, repeatable movements into a full body workout that is accessible to everyone, regardless of background, age or experience. It is a rhythm driven experience that combines Afro inspired movements, functional training techniques and original Afroletics&trade; music created to move with intention. You do not need a dance background, only the willingness to move and feel the groove. Every session brings a strong sense of community and culture.Whether you join for the music, the sweat or the connection, Afroletics&trade; is designed to make you feel powerful, free and fully alive. We are working on adding Afroletics&trade; classes to our offerings, and invite you to come join our Executive Director and instructor Rita Addico Cohen, as she teaches this live class as the final step to her Afroletics&trade; instructor certification!
