Urban Community Agri-nomics

Urban Community Agri-nomics empowers youth through hands-on agricultural experiences, fostering leadership and community engagement while promoting sustainable farming practices and healthy living.

Join Donette as she shares the history, spirit, and hands-on knowledge behind electuaries (a traditional honey-based herbal remedy that is simple, flavorful, and rich in story).&nbsp; Participants will learn about the science of honey, how to properly dry herbs they collect, and more while reconnecting with ancestral healing practices and herbal traditions.

UCAN Cooking Class!

The Urban Community AgriNomics Youth Advisory Council is an opportunity for students aged 12-18 to cultivate leadership skills on the land, and contribute to the growth of the farm through onsite projects and dynamic programming. This meeting is open to youth and parents/guardians who are interested in learning more about the program, asking questions, and connecting with our Youth Program Manager, Erica Neal. - We&rsquo;re seeking 10-12 middle and high school students withtransportation support for meeting attendance, and project workdays. - Commitment for the Youth Advisory Council is Mid May - Early October, to follow the trajectory of a growing season. - Council members will meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month between 4:30-6pm, and commit to being at the farm one Saturday each month for special project work. Meetings will alternate between virtual and onsite, with flexibility for transportation limitations. - Projects will require offsite or &lsquo;behind the scenes&rsquo; work like research, sketching, and written brainstorming. Ex: Sketch a plan into a provided template of the field, scan or photograph your sketch to share.

UCAN&rsquo;s Third Annual Boston Butt Fundraiser is back, and this year we&rsquo;re raising funds for Capacity Building! Capacity Building allows us to strengthen and expand UCAN, including beginning construction and enhancing our Welcome Center to generate additional revenue, supporting staff and volunteer needs with materials and supplies, and covering essential operational costs. Enjoy a fun-filled day for the whole family at the farm! Enjoy games, farm tours, and delicious food, including Boston Butt sandwich plates made with local meat and fish plates. It&rsquo;s the perfect opportunity to have fun with us while supporting Urban Community AgriNomics (UCAN)! This year&rsquo;s theme is: &ldquo;Where You Stand, Medicine Grows: Building a Home Apothecary from the Herbs Around You.&rdquo;
