Urbana STEMM

Urbana STEMM empowers students through hands-on workshops in science, technology, engineering, math, and medicine, fostering skills in fields like engineering and robotics to inspire the next generation of innovators.

Learn how engineers turn ideas into real 3D models using computer-aided design (CAD). Students will design moving parts and simple mechanisms with industry-used software called Onshape while building skills used in engineering and robotics. No prior experience required. This workshop includes 8 sessions, held every Wednesday starting September 8th, at 9023 Harris st, Villages of Urbana, Frederick, MD. We recommend students bring a laptop/Chromebook and mouse.

Middle School Math Competition preparation

Build, code, and test real robots 🤖 with Urbana STEMM mentors in this hands-on workshop. You’ll practice the same skills used in the FIRST LEGO League Challenge, from sensor basics to simple strategy on the game field. We plan to use either EV3 or Spike brick and motor, and block programming. Guided by high school leaders who have experience with state and national championships, you’ll work in small teams, share ideas, and learn by doing. Join us to grow your STEMM skills, gain confidence, and get competition-ready for this season’s challenge. 🌟
