Washington Prison Dawah Organization

Washington Prison Dawah Organization provides Qur'ans to incarcerated individuals in Washington, aiming to offer spiritual guidance and support through authentic Islamic texts, fostering understanding and connection to faith within the prison system.

WPDO is working to provide over 500 Qur&#39;ans to the prisons in Washington each year, bi idhnillah!&nbsp; Our incarcerated brothers and sisters are in constant need of Noble Qur&#39;ans (Arabic/English). We specifically chose the Noble Qur&#39;an (Muhsin Khan and Taqi-ud Din Al-Hilali) because it offers footnotes and references to tafsir and hadith for an authentic and deeper understanding of the Qur&#39;an. We are also in need of Clear Qur&#39;ans (Mustafa Khattab, Paperback, English only) for non-Muslims who are interested in reading the Qur&#39;an, as well as our brothers and sisters who may be in solitary confinement and cannot have hardcover Qur&#39;ans. Please help us provide the life-changing Guidance that Allah has so mercifully given to us in the Qur&#39;an. May Allah grant you Al-Jannah (Paradise) for helping to place the precious Qur&#39;an in the hands of those who need it most, ameen. &nbsp;

Each of the 18 incarcerated Muslim communities in Washington are allowed to have an Islamic Library of books. Because there is no access to the internet in prison, these Islamic Libraries are the sole source of Islamic education for the incarcerated Muslim communities. They are vital for the proper understanding and practice of Islam in prison.&nbsp; WPDO is working to provide a one-time donation of foundational Islamic texts to each of the Islamic Libraries in every prison facility in Washington. These foundational texts include tafsir (exegesis) of the Qur&#39;an, collections of hadith (Prophetic traditions), books covering adab (manners) and akhlaq (moral character), usul ul-fiqh (Islamic Legal Theory), aqidah (Islamic Belief), Arabic language learning books, and other foundational and beneficial texts for our brothers and sisters in prison. It&#39;s an unfortunate and painful reality that some Muslims in prison will spend the rest of their lives there. It&#39;s also a painful reality that some of the Muslims who die in prison have no family support, and no one to advocate for their desire for an Islamic burial. As many of us know, the cost of an Islamic burial can be expensive for an individual, as well as for the Islamic community. WPDO&#39;s Islamic Funeral Fund helps with the costs of an Islamic burial for those Muslims who pass away in prison and have no family or financial support. &nbsp; Please help support WPDO in helping to cover the cost of Janaazah for our brothers and sisters in prison who have no one else. &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;
