Whiskered Away

Whiskered Away is dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating stray and abandoned cats, providing them with medical care, foster homes, and forever families. Their mission is to alleviate the suffering of these animals and promote responsible pet ownership.

A few days ago, George was found crying in a bush by one of our Team Members and brought to our vet to be neutered and vaccinated. We have since received some unexpected news: George has an inguinal hernia that requires surgery. Tuesday he’ll be headed to Washington Animal Hospital for x-rays before returning to Forgotten Cats for his hernia repair. While we’re incredibly grateful this was caught early, the unexpected veterinary bills just keep coming. George isn’t our only medical case right now. We have another cutie scheduled for bloodwork next week, we have several dental procedures coming up, and we’re continuing to provide care for cats with ongoing medical needs. As a small rescue, these expenses add up quickly, but we never want finances to be the reason a stray cat doesn’t get the care they need. If you’re able to make a donation, it will go directly toward George’s diagnostics and surgery, as well as the ongoing medical care our other rescue cats need. If donating isn’t possible right now, you can still make a huge difference by fostering George while he recovers & looks for a forever home. He’ll be on crate rest after surgery, and we’ll provide the crate and all the supplies you’ll need too. All he needs is a safe place to heal and someone to remind him he’s loved. And trust us, George makes that easy. This gorgeous little gray boy has the softest coat with the faintest marbling and a motor that never stops once you're snugging him. He’s an absolute purr machine and has already charmed everyone he’s met. If you’re unable to donate or foster at this time, sharing George’s story is one of the most impactful ways you can help. Every share helps his fundraiser reach more people and increases his chances of finding a foster home. Thank you for helping us give George, and so many other cats, the care they deserve. Every donation, foster, and share truly makes a difference. Update: George’s journey got a little more complicated. Last week, we took George to Washington Ave Animal Hospital for x-rays ahead of his scheduled hernia surgery. We were hoping for answers that would help him move forward with treatment, but instead we discovered yet another medical concern. In addition to his large inguinal hernia, George has a completely dislocated hip.Thankfully, his hernia isn’t quite as urgent or dangerous as we initially feared. Because George’s hernia is so large, his veterinary team has decided the best course of action is to address one issue at a time.George is now scheduled to return to Forgotten Cats next week for his hernia repair. Once he’s fully recovered and his surgical site has healed, he’ll be referred to Providence Animal Center for an FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy) to repair his hip.Through it all, George continues to be the sweetest little kitten. He purrs through everything and has no idea how many people are rooting for him. While we’re relieved to have a plan, George still has a long road ahead, and his medical expenses continue to grow. We’re committed to giving him every chance at a pain-free, happy life.If you’d like to help, donations toward George’s medical care are deeply appreciated. And if you can’t donate, please share George’s story. Every share helps us reach more people who can support kittens like George when they need it most.Follow our page and keep an eye on our stories for George’s latest updates as he continues his journey to recovery. Thank you for rooting for this little guy.

George Needs Two Surgeries

Our extra sweet sugar kitty Tyson has some ongoing medical expenses that come with being a diabetic cat, but now we also have an unexpected Urgent Care visit on the bill! Donations to Tyson’s Medical Fund will help cover today’s emergency veterinary care. If there is any overflow it will go toward his ongoing diabetes management, including: - Insulin - Insulin syringes - Blood glucose test strips - Ketone urine test strips - Veterinary visits and any additional care he may need Tyson has already come such a long way since we pulled him from ACCT Philly in July, and we want to make sure he continues getting everything he needs to stay happy, comfortable, and healthy. If you’d like to help Tyson, every contribution makes a difference. And if you can’t donate, sharing his fundraiser is just as valuable. ❤️ Thank you for continuing to be part of Tyson’s village! 🐾💙

Hoagie spent the first 2–3 years of his life surviving on the streets. When he finally came into foster care, it didn’t take long for his sweet personality to shine through.Every morning, Hoagie curls up with his human, rests his head on their shoulder, and purrs. After spending so much of his life outside, he’s finally discovered what it feels like to be safe, loved, and cared for. 🥹But recently, something changed.Hoagie started breathing harder than usual and recently began panting. We rushed him to the vet, where X-rays showed abnormal fluid buildup affecting his breathing. Right now, we’re still trying to determine exactly what’s causing it. His symptoms could be related to a heart condition or asthma, and we need more answers. For now, Hoagie has started medication to help make breathing easier while we work toward a diagnosis and figure out what he needs next. He’s come SO far. This sweet boy went from surviving on the streets to waking up every morning in a safe home, cuddling with his person and purring on their shoulder. We want to give him every chance to keep enjoying those little moments. ❤️Would you consider helping us cover Hoagie’s veterinary care and whatever comes next?Every donation, share, and even a comment to help boost this post makes a difference.🐾 Please help Hoagie keep breathing easy. 🐾
