Having a horse program right on-site at Pleasant Hill Outdoor Camp is a game-changer for our campers’ growth and experience. By installing a dedicated corral, we move beyond the limitations of scheduled van trips and bring the horses into the heart of daily camp life. This constant access allows children to do more than just ride; it invites them into the meaningful work of stewardship and care. Through feeding, grooming, and maintaining the corral, campers develop a deep sense of responsibility and a unique bond with God’s creatures that only consistent, hands-on interaction can provide. This program transforms "horse time" from a brief activity into a daily lesson in patience, empathy, and the quiet joy of serving something outside of oneself.
