Since 2018, we’ve helped thousands of AAPI leaders get up to speed on the policy news and activism affecting our communities – all while remaining 100% fiercely independent, nonprofit, and funded by generous readers like you. With your support, we'll continue to: 1. Track advocacy groups, elected officials, and political campaigns to examine how they are civically engaging AAPI communities; 2. Expand our investigative projects, newsletters, alerts, nonpartisan analysis, and interviews with power players on the biggest issues shaping AAPI communities; and 3. Build The Yappie into a training ground for the next generation of AAPI leaders, including AAPI student journalists and interns pursuing careers in policy, government, and communications. Why you should trust us: Experience: The Yappie is made up of passionate young professionals who have worked in government, political media, and at some of the nation’s leading AAPI advocacy organizations. All bring unique experiences and connections that allow us to provide unparalleled coverage on what’s at stake for our communities. Our record: The Yappie’s journalists have attended White House press briefings, interviewed lawmakers in the halls of Congress, and tracked how major presidential campaigns are engaging with AAPI voters. We’ve published in-depth stories highlighting Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander healthcare disparities, the experiences of Southeast Asian refugees, and interviewed rising newsmakers—from mayors to presidential Cabinet members. Outside of The Yappie, our writers have been featured in The New York Times, Washington Post, Axios, Foreign Policy, and elsewhere. Fully nonprofit: The Yappie was fiscally sponsored by the Asian American Journalists Association until early 2023, and is now an IRS designated 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Your contribution is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
