Modoulamin "Mo" Sanneh is the eldest of his seven siblings and has taken on the responsibility of trying to provide for his family. They reside in Brikama Town, The Gambia, West Africa.
Meet Mo from Gambia
he is the eldest of seven siblings from a family that is facing extreme food scarcity and housing insecurity due to a lack of job opportunities, lack of infrastructure and increasing impacts of climate change.
Like so many in The Gambia, where 53% of the population lives in poverty, they are struggling to make ends meet.
Mo, at just 18 years of age , has taken on the responsibility of trying to provide for his entire family to ensure they are fed, can access basic necessities and in the hope of being able to build a family home.
Please let Mo tell your his story
“My family dreams of owning our own home.
Currently we are renting a small apartment which is not comfortable for a family of nine - me and my six younger siblings are living in a single room whilst our parents are in another room.
Renting is a continuous stress for us and we are living from hand to mouth every single month.
At 19 years of age, I am the eldest son and am struggling to provide our basic family needs. I am unemployed - work is impossible to find, and am forced to depend on the support that I have from friends and kind donors.
If we were able to raise the funds to buy land and build our very own family home, it would be the realization of my parents' and siblings' dream, improve our lives immeasurably and allow us more dignity and opportunity.
I hope you can help us.”
Mo’s friends and supporters have created this page to help this sweet young teenager realize his family’s dream - US$7000 will enable Mo and his family to buy a small piece of land and build a home of their own. A simple dream but one, that without your help, is near impossible for a struggling family in the Gambia to achieve. All funds will be held until the full amount is raised
So please open your hearts and help Mo reach this very achievable target and give them the gift of a secure home of their own.
