Now that school is underway, let's get ready to help our students support the things we love about Queen Anne Elementary! QAE's Move-A-Thon is our only student-driven fundraiser of the year and is just around the corner.

The Move-A-Thon will take place during the school day on October 6th. Students will participate with their class by completing laps around the playground. There will be a DJ, t-shirts for every student and popsicles! Spectators are welcome to come and cheer on our movers!

Students have already been training in P.E. and working with teachers to set goals. Besides encouraging each student to be their individual best, the Move-A-Thon is an incredible opportunity to share and support the students' project-based learning, social emotional skill development and global citizen program with friends and family. Proceeds from the fundraiser go to support school programs such as:

• Art classes and supplies
• In-depth project-based learning (PBL) projects
• Classroom instructional assistants
• Reading specialists
• Social Emotional Learning skills
• Community events such as Field Day and Multi-Cultural Night
• Assemblies and author visits
• and so much more!

In addition to the list above, the Queen Anne Elementary PTSA proudly allocates 10% of its annual fundraising income to school-based community outreach. In recent years, we have directed this support toward local organizations that promote fundshifting - the sharing of fundraising proceeds from schools with large fundraising capabilities with schools that lack significant fundraising resources. This annual donation promotes equity among Seattle schools and ensures that the QAE PTSA is working toward the National PTA mission to advocate for the education and well-being of all students.
