Promyss M. Watley, the Founding Director of Celestial Point Inc., has keenly observed the cries for help emerging from the WNC community in light of recent apocalyptic devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. It has become increasingly clear that support is needed now more than ever. Therefore, I hope that you will earnestly consider supporting our organization’s #AshevilleStrong Hurricane Relief Project. This initiative is dedicated to providing ongoing capital building support to a variety of stakeholders, including community organizers, local businesses, municipalities, and organizations, all of whom play a vital role in sustaining seed emergency response operations and progression through the search, rescue and recovery lifecycle.
The path of Hurricane Helene spans an extensive 500 miles, a distance that has left Asheville, NC, and its neighboring communities reeling from the immense and ongoing damage caused by this natural disaster. Local citizens of Western North Carolina are urgently appealing for viewers’ assistance, hoping to rally support and resources to aid those most affected. As the desperation of families grows increasingly acute with every passing day, the pressure mounts as tropical hurricanes continue to form and threaten the region. We are driven by a profound urgency to help as many people as we can during this critical time, especially in acknowledgment of the new tropical threats that are rapidly arising in the Gulf of Mexico, which put additional parts of the southern United States in jeopardy. Communities are coming together, working tirelessly to provide relief and support, knowing that every gesture counts in the face of such overwhelming challenges.
Celestial Point Inc. has been a crucial resource for information and updates concerning the municipal, organizational, and group needs associated with seed emergency response. We want to reassure you that all our dedicated stakeholders on the ground are working tirelessly and with unwavering commitment to assist everyone in need during this challenging time. However, they are currently faced with an overwhelming high demand for services, which means that the capacity to effectively serve the entire region is limited, even with significant interventions at the government level. This situation highlights the necessity for ongoing collaboration and support as we strive to meet the needs of our communities.
Together, we can build a more resilient community equipped to face challenges and promote sustainable recovery. Our organization seeks your support in launching the initial seed initiative aimed at readying our community-based living facility for the urgent intake of environmental refugees and fleet to distribute relief goods throughout the WNC region.
In order to effectively establish our inaugural community-based living program—serving as an administrative office, a residence for environmental refugees and migrants, a center for healing and learning, and a hub for fleet management—Celestial Point Inc. seeks to raise $25,000 to swiftly address the urgent and growing demand for seed emergency response initiatives.
