40+ Years of Impact
For over four decades, WOW has been a unique artistic home in New York City’s arts ecosystem: a collectively run theater space for women and/or trans and/or non-binary artists.
WOW has redefined theater and performance art through our collective model rooted in consensus and sweat equity.
Our East Village performance space remains a haven for:
Showcasing fresh voices of women and/or trans and/or non-binary artists
Collaboration and collective organizing by our artists, community members, and supporters
Socially engaged art that uplifts marginalized voices and supports our communities
A Year of Resilience
In 2024, WOW reached thousands of individuals through:
Performances and cultural programming that inspires imaginations and empowers transformative change
The 2024 Festival of Joy and Resilience, featuring groundbreaking theater and performance art by women, trans, and non-binary artists
Monthly cabarets shows, such as the Good Grief Mic Shop, where up-and-coming acts share a stage with seasoned performers
Gatherings celebrating creative expression and social connection, such as Dancing Waves & Queer Rope Social
Civic engagement events with The People’s Money participatory budgeting and the NYC Commission on Racial Equity
Workshops, open houses, and community events
