LAST YEAR WAS SUCH A HUGE HIT WE'VE BEEN ASKED TO DO IT AGAIN!

We show up to volunteer in an effort to fight for hunger for third world countries, rally in races to find cures for cancer, and donate to causes that are near and dear to our hearts (i.e., animal shelters, substance abuse, disorders, disease prevention, varying degrees of social injustice and the like).

And those are all good things to support.

But, what about what is going on in our own backyards? It’s been said that “It all starts in the home,” and that “It takes a village to raise a child.”

However, when it comes to single-parent living, Arizona has one of the highest poverty rates among U.S. states with roughly one in five Arizonans living in poverty. One can only imagine the daily struggles single mothers face  as they try to both parent and provide for their children.

After endless scrutiny, empty promises and doors of opportunity leading to nowhere, single moms feel frustrated in their tireless efforts, condemned for their choices, exiled from stability, isolated and alone, and left with no other option but to forge forward in an attempt to do whatever necessary to get their family to “safe harbor” (leaving little to no room for exploring options let alone social connections).

Our Single Mom Coalition exists to “Help mom warriors find their village…one connection at a time,” whether that is through a resource, service, guidance, or a much-needed  friendship to link arms with. And our local community events are our way of letting them know that we’re here for them. 

Everyone knows that laughter is good for the soul!

And what better way to do this than through a night of comedy?
