Khooni Vaisakhi - The Jallianwala Bagh Story

After 4 years, Indian Arts Boston, the organizer of Sanskriti Lit Fest, Caleidoscope Film Festival of Boston and Cuisinart Culinary Contest, is back with a novel historical narrative through music and poetry. Please mark September 13th 6:00 PM for an unforgettable and emotional experience.

India's freedom came at a huge cost, a sum total of sacrifice and persistence, recounting tales of great courage and valor. The 1919 tragedy at Jallianwala Bagh in Punjab was a pivotal point in the struggle for independence, that strengthened the resolve of freedom fighters and ultimately paved the path to liberty.

In association with Teamwork Arts of India, IAB brings to you former Ambassador Navdeep Suri and the talented musician Vidya Shah to present the unspoken truth of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in a 90 minute musical followed by a Q&A session. Ambassador Suri's grandfather, the legendary Nanak Singh was at the vanue but miraculously escaped and wrote a ballad of 24 poems providing a complete account of what happened in Amritsar in the weeks prior to the incident of General Dyers wrath. The book was soon banned in British India and all copies destroyed till six decades later, Nanak's family discovered a manuscript and had it published. It is a lifetime opportunity to learn and honor our forefathers' sacrifice to secure their progeny's future.
