But it wasn't always this way. Once the most polluted river in America, the "Kiski" was something to look away from for many decades. But thanks to the work of the Kiskiminetas Watershed Association (KWA) and like-minded groups, the once rusty water now flows green, inviting, and full of life - making the Kiski a source of pride, not embarrassment.  But the work is far from over. Abandoned mines continue to drain into the Kiski. An unfortunate amount of trash still accumulates in and around the river. Recreational access to the Kiski could always be expanded.  And that's where a KWA membership comes in. Supporting the KWA with your money and time means we continue to create and promote all the environmental, conservation, and recreation opportunities for the Kiski and her tributaries.
