Kitchen on the Street hosts a Jr Board of Directors each year to provide an opportunity for Jr. High, High School and College students to impact their commitment by creatively addressing food insecurity.  The 2022-2023 Jr. Board members are working to perfect their elevator speech to raise awareness on this issue and their comittment to the cause.  On Saturday 1/21/23 you are invited to join the Jr. Board at Kitchen on the Street to learn about the cause, their efforts and to pack Bags of Hope (food backpacks).  Register today, you won't want to miss this!Event Details:Date:  1/21/23Time:  Doors open at 8:45am event starts at 9amAttire:  Wear close toed shoes and dress to work in a warehouseBring:  Water bottle or coffee for personal consumptionAdditional:  Canned meat, pancake mix and cereal donations gladly accepted in support of our mission 1 in 8 AZ children struggles with food insecurity.  Food insecurity contributes to poor mental and physical health as well as decrease academic achievement. 85% of lower income Arizona students do not read at grade level and food insecurity plays a major role in that.  Kitchen on the Street stands with children in need at the intersection of nutrition and academic excellence by partnering with Title 1 schools to provide weekend nutrition to food-insecure children in AZ.  On average, reading skills increase by 12% and math scores improve by 26% once a child receives a Bag of Hope (weekend food backpack). In addition, D performing schools have become B+ performing schools as a result of this program.
