IthacaChildren & Youth Chorus - Intermezzo

The IthacaChildren & Youth Chorus (ICYC) strives to instill a life-long love of music as the area’s only exclusive children’s choral program. ICYC provides an inclusive and complete choral experience for young singers through culturally diverse repertoire from varied traditions. Rehearsals include pedagogically appropriate musical activities with a commitment to excellence and cooperation. Each ensemble rehearses weekly and schedules performances throughout the community. In addition, all ensembles participate in two collaborative performances a year, and typically offers an all-chorus retreat in the fall and spring.
Intermezzo
In Intermezzo, singers in grades 3rd-5th build upon basic music skills with an emphasis on healthy singing, expression, rehearsal and performance technique, and movement, in a fun supportive environment. Singers are introduced to beginning part-singing while exploring repertoire from a variety of cultures and genres. This ensemble also introduces the student to the written musical score.
