Friends of the Johnson Nature Center has partnered with locally renowned chefs; Chris Gadulka (Sylvan Table), and Johnny Prepolec (Alchemi) to bring the community a unique Forest to Table strolling dinner experience at the Johnson Nature Center in Bloomfield Township. This year we will also feature Chef Shanel DeWalt (Make Food Not Waste) as a contributing partner to lead our sustainability efforts as we aim for this to be a zero waste event.  Additionally, Chef Jeremy Abbey and Chef John Piazza (Edible WOW) will engage guests by highlighting the invasive flora on the menu, along with Johnson Nature Center naturalists. 

Featuring six courses, the chefs will intertwine Michigan native and invasive species of flora and fauna as ingredients in the dishes served throughout a quarter mile trail. Guests will have an opportunity to connect with their natural environment and engage their senses as they stroll the trails to taste chefs’ creations and learn about forest food and its relationship with our ecosystem.  There will be live music, open bar, unique performing artists, and interactive demonstrations that will shed light on the ecological issues we face in our hyperlocal environment.
