Play for PetsHosted by Jeremy Carter, one of Pittsburgh Magazine's 40 under 40 for 2024. Please join us for a paw-some evening filled with games, food, drinks and lots of fun, all for a great cause. While I fully appreciate the honor of being one of Pittsburgh Magazine's 40 under 40 this year, I'd like to gather friends who wish to celebrate with me while doing something good for the community----the backbone of my career that helped me achieve this award.  The Second Avenue Commons shelter suffered a catastrophic fire in June 2024, displacing 180 people and their pets using the shelter. It's one of very few shelters that accept pets in Allegheny County. Having pets in a homeless shelter presents operational, health and safety, and financial challenges. Crates, beds, muzzles, and food are always needed as pets come and go through the shelter. Additionally, most homeless/rental assistance programs do not cover pet move-in fees, which can often be a barrier for those transitioning from homelessness with their pets.  Proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly to support the pets staying at the shelter by helping Pittsburgh Mercy obtain pet supplies and provide pet move-in fees when it presents a barrier to moving. (Funds raised will go directly to Pittsburgh Mercy, who operates the shelter services.
