This a 3-day highly interactive skills-based training, that meets the minimum requirements for Texas Peer Support Supervisor certification.
The provision of excellent supervision is arguably the most important aspect of enhancing and sustaining your peer program, allowing for the most effective integration of the Peer role into any setting.
Good supervision allows Peer staff to identify and grow their unique strengths, effectively address areas for improvement, and truly flourish professional and personally.
Participants attending this training will learn about:
-Role Clarity - The Lane of the Peer Specialist
-Theories and Models of Supervision
-Modalities, Methods and Techniques of Supervision
-Differences in Clinical Supervision vs. Peer Supervision
-Practice Dimensions of the Peer role
-Potential Ethical Issues

CORE Peer Specialist training is a 3 day training in which participants learn about the fundamental principles and skills of peer support work in the state of Texas. *This training satisfies the prerequisite requirement for the supplemental training.
Participants who complete this training and pass the knowledge assessment are eligible to apply for the supplemental trainings, Mental Health Peer Specialist (MHPS), Recovery Support Peer Specialist (RSPS), Re-Entry Peer Specialist (RPS), Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS).

Prerequisite: Core training certificate of completion
Mental Health Peer Specialist (MHPS) training meets the 40-hour requirement for certification. Participants who complete this training and pass the knowledge assessment are eligible to apply for Peer Specialist certification in the state of Texas.
If you are interested utilizing your lived experience in mental health recovery to support others with similar experiences, this training is for you.

-Stages of Recovery
-Recovery Story Telling
-Change Agent/Advocacy
-Engagement and Support
-Effective Communication Skills

Prerequisite: Core training certificate of completion
Recovery Support Peer Specialist (RSPS) training meets the 46-hour state certification requirement. Participants who complete this training and pass the knowledge assessment are eligible to apply for Peer Specialist certification in the state of Texas.
If you are interested utilizing your lived experience in substance use recovery to support others with similar experiences, this training is for you.
