The mission of Kent Historical Society (KHS) is to collect, preserve, interpret and present the rich history of Kent, Connecticut and provides educational and research material to enrich the public understanding of Kent's artistic and cultural heritage. KHS owns and operates Seven Hearths Museum at 4 Studio Hill Road, Kent and the Skiff Mountain Schoolhouse. Programs for adults, families and children are offered throughout the year at Seven Hearths Museum, locations throughout Kent and at community-wide events. KHS offers award-winning exhibitions, school programs, workshops and summer camps. Seven Hearths is the prized possession of the Kent Historical Society, located in the heart of the original Kent town center - the Flanders Historic District. Seven Hearths offers a unique view of the early development of the Town of Kent. For much of the twentieth century, it was the home and studio of artist George Laurence Nelson, his wife, Helen Redgrave Nelson and their daughter Beatrice.
