Come join the Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association (ECWA) for its annual Heron Rookery Tour!&nbsp; Every spring, minutes from downtown Durham, a giant colony of great blue herons and great egrets nest above Ellerbe Creek. This rookery is one of the few known nesting sites of great egrets in the entire Piedmont, and this is the one time of year that these birds gather to raise their young. Please Know Before You Go:<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Tours will leave from the Gazebo.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Please arrive 10 minutes before your tour&#39;s start time as the tour guides leave exactly on time.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">You will see ECWA Event Parking signs in front of the area to park. Parking is allowed anywhere in the Glenstone subdevelopment.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Please be sure to wear proper footwear as the trails are muddy and there may be ticks and fleas on the trails.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">There are no bathrooms or water fountains on site.</li></ul>Note: Zeffy is a free platform for nonprofits but will ask for an optional tip (donation) to the site before you complete registration.
