The NEPA Pride Coalition was established in July 2022 to address the unique needs of the local LGBTQIA+ community. Sexual and gender minorities often face significant and complex barriers in daily life, especially when accessing community services or navigating broader societal systems. Everyday activities—such as visiting a doctor, going to work or school, finding a therapist, addressing housing insecurity, seeking affirming substance use or mental health treatment, or even estate planning—can present distinct challenges.Our mission at the NEPA Pride Coalition is to illuminate these issues and equip service providers to better support their LGBTQIA+ clients, employees, patients, friends, and neighbors. With this in mind, we are thrilled to announce the second annual LGBTQIA+ Educational Symposium, which will take place on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Marywood University in the Nazareth Student Center. Our inaugural symposium last year exceeded all expectations, thanks to the enthusiastic turnout, bolstered support, and positive feedback from sponsors and attendees alike. Building on this success, this year’s symposium will feature a variety of presentations by a diverse panel of presenters. We anticipate welcoming approximately 200 attendees and are excited to host this year’s event in Scranton.Please join us for a day of education and the sharing of best practices when working with members of the LGBTQIA+ population.
